Good handful has nice thick strong stems

And this year, as I'm deadheading, while almost pencil thick new stems with multiple blooms on the tip, I find that if I just touch it the wrong way while -deadheading-, the entire thing will snap/break off.

Never had this experience till this year.

Can anyone confirm this is -semi normal-

Sofar, only experienced this on one particular rose shrub - vanessa bell. A quick count shows about 10-12 blooms per stem on the 1st flush
