Three in bloom today

Today the heat is one and it's getting really dry too. It's thundering right now but I bet we don't get any rain.

Four daylilies are blooming today, but I will post only three. I posted Begins with a Bang the other day, but these flowers were prettier.

Forbidden Territory produced a 'cheater scape'. I don't love this flower, but since it is on the small side, I thought I might try to use it with my small tets.

This is a strange little seedling. It is Itsy Bitsy Spider X Indelible Blood. It looks sort of stippled. Some of its siblings have the same stippled look.

Begins with a Bang really appeals to me, so glad your season is starting! We had the thunder earlier too, sky darkened and it cooled off fast. Not a drop of rain.

Those are all really pretty. I love the curly texture on the them. The colors in the first and third iris are a mix of the colors in some old (probably heirloom) iris that I have. I'm waiting for them to bloom. So far only my short bearded purple ones (also heirlooms) have started blooming. MeMo

FPR is very pretty. Reminds me of one that someone else on this forum posted recently. Can't recall the name but has the same edging on it. Chocolate Dude suppose to be a bronze/brown color?

Your gardens are really showing off. Fernstone looks so good, my 2 fans each have a nice scape, at least a week away from blooming though. Dumortieri bloomed yesterday, but with the wind & rain didn't look decent to show. Love your iris! And your roses, I miss the few roses I grew. Gave up on them when the Japanese beetles devoured them. Abe Barrow is a lovely flower, but that last photo is just wonderful.

Nan, you are correct. I purchased Cheese and Wine at my local favorite nursery in 2015. "Longfields" was not on any of the information I had when I purchased it. Heemskerk is a hybridizer in the Netherlands. This season I purchased another Heemskerk daylily called Magic Dancer at the same nursery. It's just as lovely in a different way.Sherry

I guess I had better set the record straight. The name of the first daylily is 'Begin with a Bang'. I keep putting an 's' in.

Kay, Begin with a Bang is about 4.5 inches across. The scape is a nice height--probably 30 inches in our garden.

Maryl, Forbidden Territory's color is not my favorite. I don't really care for lavender or mauve. It needs to be deep purple for me to like it. I also don't think the flower has a very pleasing shape.

Nice group. It has been dry here too. Mornings are cool but then we heat up. Suppose to hit 90's today but will go back down over the weekend.
