how should i tile the pony wall?
Comments (0)I've been lurking on here a long time and getting so much help. I have a small bathroom with a tub/shower combo. We have to build a pony wall that faces the toilet so water does not come out of tub. (We will install glass at a later date on top of it) I'm having a tough time deciding whether to tile the pony wall. My floor tiles are 6x6 travertine on a diagonal and my tub surround will be subway travertine from the tub to the ceiling. My walls will be painted. I know that there needs to be tile on the pony wall facing the tub and on the ledge, but I'm not sure what to do about the opposite wall facing the toilet and the 4" width that faces the sink. Any ideas or photos of what other people have done? I have to decide pretty quickly. Thanks!...See MoreHow should I finish the wall behind my farmhouse style bathroom vanity
Comments (10)Sorry took so long to update....These are some photos of the bathroom, although it was still not completely finished at the time these were taken. The door and shelves have been stained a Carbon gray gel stain that almost perfectly matches the vanity. I used 8" white shiplap through out. The wall lights purchased through Lowe's online. The mirror purchased at Pier 1. The shower tile feature is carrera marble patterned, and a sea grey tile purchased at 'The Tile Shop' in Urbandale, Iowa. The laminate wood floors are from Home Depot in Mushroom? or the next grayer color. The vanity is 60" dark grey with carrera marble top, sink, and faucet included. I changed the knobs. I think I ordered from Houzz but can't remember. It's also on Wayfair. It all looks better in person than in the photos. I don't love that the toilet is right in the middle as you open the door but I didn't want the hassle of changing the layout/footprint of the bathroom. Overall I am happy with my choices. The mirror is a little fancy to me but my husband loved it and the design echos the patterned shower tile so I went with it....See MoreBathroom clearances on my sketch?? Move 39" wide closet wall?
Comments (5)Thanks. I was planning on the supports for grab bars, but hadn't gotten around to learning about it yet. Bracing 36" off the floor....horizontally...where I want the grab bars, right? Plus, where I will have the hand shower sliding bar and beside the doors the braces will go vertically. Hopefully, the plumber will show up today. I have been calling plumbers since April. One finally answered his phone! It is unbelievable how busy they are with that high dollar lake development going on. Bruce, how do you like living in Northern Virginia? We are thinking of moving when this house is finished. The heat is southeast Oklahoma is as bad as south Texas and Florida heat, and almost as bad as Arizona heat. Our humidity is unbelievable. 112° Heat factor and we get no winters now. I have been looking at the Charlottesville area. I am looking for 4 seasons. Virginia Beach is pretty nice, but hurricanes.......See MoreHow should I decorate our fancy but odd master bathroom layout?
Comments (23)I disagree that all your wood has to match. I kept asking my decorator about "matching" wood and she was flat out against it. Said it makes your house look like a furniture ad, and she didn't mean that in a good way. "Matchy-matchy" was her derogatory phrase LOL. Painting your walls, or some of them, would be a good way to bring some life to the room without adding dust-collectors. My vote would be for a soft watery blue-green-gray. For example the SW Sea Salt in this example. https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/8-most-popular-blue-green-paint-colours-mix-sherwin-williams-and-benjamin-moore/...See Morechispa
