I know this is an older post but if this can help you or someone . . . ..Of the three colors mentioned, Oyster White will give you the look you're after and will look good in bright light and in more dull blue light during winter also. It would look good with Iron Ore and with a more black paint from SW such as Black Magic or Tricorn Black. Alabaster on an exterior can look great but it's much brighter than Oyster White. Snowbound, while one of my personal faves, can have some funny pink undertones at times. As always, test test test! Natural lighting and reflections from trees/ water/ other houses will affect a paint's appearance.

Those colors are very gray. If you really want blue those will not be right, although I think you're on the right track by leaning gray. If you choose something that looks BLUE on a paint chip it could be really overbearing on a house. Consider Aleutian. It is more blue than either of the two colors you're thinking about, but it's not a strong blue. You will get more confidence in your choice if you sample the color in daylight. Sunlight washes colors out and also can bring out undertones that you wouldn't otherwise see. Paint a large board with two coats of the color you want to sample and hold it up to the house on all four sides. Stand back and look at it from different distances.

I'll chime in on what is "bad design" even though you asked Mark. Too much of a good thing is not good. Three different siding materials (stone, horizontal clapboard and vertical board and batten), combined with the shutters, ornate railing, dormers, is just too much for the eye to behold. Simple is always best, and probably the most difficult to achieve. Also the stone that every builder is using just isn't organic. Unless it's in an area where the stone is a natural occurrence (in the earth) it's a contrivance. Most classic homes are rooted to a place, the materials chosen were the local ones that blended well with the surroundings. You wouldn't want to have a pueblo/stucco/clay tile roof home in on the East coast near the ocean. You use gray shingles or clapboard which was readily available in that area. Stone homes in Pennsylvania, brick in the Middle Atlantic. And that pueblo home out west in the desert. I'm not an expert on the many, many styles around the world, but it always helps to keep the local vernacular in mind when designing a home. Perhaps the architects can add what I've missed.

How big a sample are you testing - get a 4 x8 cheap plywood (out of the Home Depot reject pile) or several. You are on the right track with the grayed greens I think. Has your house ever been painted with modern paints - even if it has, because its vintage and probably using vintage materials you might want to consult with limeworks.us or ,either and consider using a mineral potassium silicate paint which forms a chemical bond with the cement vs a plastic film which sits on the surface. It is much more durable, breathable - rain is kept out,, but water vapor can pass in and out which you need so moisture doesnt get trapped behind the paint film and cause damage. Because these products use real mineral pigments (vs. chemical colorants) there is a richness and depth to them that cant be matched with plastic paints. No I dont work for them! I just had a good experience with them re: what to do with my own vintage 100 yr old masonry. Beautiful house btw!
