I have been watching your posts, too, waiting to see the shower done. Yay! Very modern-looking tiles! Is that a porcelain version of diamond plate? Very nice. I am still doing my planning. We are not ready to start buying yet. We are getting quite close, though. I have a concern about the linear drains that I do not see addressed anywhere. I am hoping that as you start to use your drain in the next few weeks, or as Lori starts using hers in the months ahead, the problem will come up. It has to do with hair. I lose a lot of hair each shampoo. I used to have a mesh bubble with a metal rim that went over the drain, but I would be ankle deep in water before my shower was over. Now I have a Lint Trapper, made for a laundry tub, stuck in the drain. It catches the hair, which tends to stay low, and the water can still go over the top and drain. I pull the hair off after every shower. The slots in all of the linear drain covers I have seen look like the hair could slide right down and go into the trough. From there, it is downhill into the actual drain. How does one stop the hair?

Two suggestions: www.driftwoodsalvage.com -- they are located on the Peninsula in East Palo Alto (LOTS of stuff from doors to fixtures to windows to wood to kitchen cabinets/counters and the list goes on) and Craigslist (look for demolition sales). Driftwood Salvage takes apart homes (some of them newer and some really old) that are being demolished. In addition to having lots of items at their location in East Palo Alto, they have salvage/demolition sales on many weekends on site where the house is being taken apart. You go there and buy what you want right out of the original house. We bought gorgeous gumwood trim, interior doors, a buffet, etc. from a 1920's house they were taking apart in Palo Alto 18 months ago. Have fun.

Hi everyone - Thanks for your input so far. I've attached a picture that better shows what the cabinets and drawers look like. Unfortunately, the cabinets and drawers do NOT have a lip on the edge where you are supposed to put your finger to pull them out. So I not only want to add pulls for contrast/color but also for functionality. CEFreeman - glad you like the color, but I actually plan to Java Gel Stain them and wanted to use satin nickel pulls as a contrast. I'm tempted to drill a hole in the "valley" of the edging, where it dips down, to see if I can still put a knob there without it going crooked or looking weird when installed. Is it obvious that that won't work? Is that just a terrible idea? I like CEFreeman's idea of using a bar pull if the knob doesn't work out, but I really want to use knobs if I can.
