Here are a couple of options that play off of @Sigrid's suggestions for color and modern look.

The first one keeps the deck and adds wood (cedar?) panels between the aligned windows/door to pick up the deck color and make it look more integral to the house. I really don't see a need to hide the lower-level slider with lattice. Generous timber (railroad tie?) steps can connect the levels and make both levels attractive and usable.

If you do want some covering over the entry, integrating the entry cover and the deck will need careful thought. A portico will cross the house at about the level of the top of the deck railing and it will be easy for the two to fight. Here's one option that removes the deck under the window, replacing it with a lower portico over the slider.

Or one that just adds a small cedar-framed overhead with a roof (not visible) to keep the rain off.
