Thank you Sabrina. The island is painted in Dorian gray. It does have some green undertones. Is that why you are suggesting green tile for backsplash?

i do think the hardwood would look nice in kitchen, however i was concened about hardwood in kitchen due to potential water damage, i replaced the kitchen floor with the current tile only 3 years ago. I have been struggling to find a countertop and backsplash that will complement rather than compete with the current tile floor rather than replace it. This is my biggest challenge. Any suggestions are appreciated!

If the floors must stay, then I would get a counter material that looks like faux concrete. Something like Silestone Polblenou:

And then go with off-white subway tiles, like Fireclay Tusk:

I do like concrete look, yet could the Polblenou be too similar to the Grey island? perhaps it is a lighter shade?

I do like your idea of the rosemary green tile or other tile with some greens in it. Trying to figure out how to add some color to my kitchen and keep some warmth. Open to changing out the stools.

Does your island countertop work with the floor tile and are you keeping it? If so, I'd try to get something close to it. Part of the problem is the pinkish floor, the green-undertone island, and the greige walls. You need to have all the finishes go with the pink beige of the floor. You've already set up a big fight with the gray island. I would not put any more gray in there. Try to find the undertones in the tile floor and work from there.

I am not keeping the granite island. Ready to update it and would prefer to use matching quartz or quartzite on both the island and surrounding countertop.

I have never noticed pink in the tile floor. Perhaps it is the photo. However, I definitely notice yellow undertones which has made it difficult for me to find a countertop and island that to esmot down and complements it without bringing out more yellow. Any other suggestions are appreciated!
