Is this square-round table 1940s vintage
Comments (13)My MIL had these chairs and a similar table, but the backs was cained. When she died the set was passed to a grand son who recently passed them to his sister, newly married. I was shocked at the cheap IKEA set he preferred. I tried to find the set by doing a search so I could date it. I tried MCM and got no where. I believe her set was maple and the table was round w/o the leaves with a center pedestal leg arrangement. There was a discussion on keeping or passing on hand me downs two weeks ago. This style seems very non specific to me. One that could blend in many decors, not overly large, ornate,or bold. After seeing what he chose vs this set it is easier for me to understand that some styles just would not work in some homes,no matter how "free"....See MoreSquare dining room, round table
Comments (5)It sounds like it would work. At least I think 18" is enough space for one to sit while all four legs are on the rug. I would even think in most cases one would be able to get in and out of the chair without having to move it off the rug. I've never put a dining table on a rug because of this dilemma. I Googled "60" round table on *' round rug" and found the link below where someone asked a similar question and another shared a photo of their 54" dining table and chairs set on an 8' round rug. Comments (5)I have the same size table. I put a round table cloth and top it with the smaller square ones I love. Works great. Just don't use too large of a round cloth; something that hangs down about halfway to the floor or a bit longer is best. You don't want it to look like a banquet table. Actually, I just realized that some of my cloths I use underneath are actually rectangles with the square one offset on top. They show lots of larger squares on round tables, too. The one you posted would look wonderful with a white cloth under it, or any of the blues, or even a complementary print....See MoreWhat type of chairs will go best with white round sintered stone table
Comments (42)My thinking is that that many chairs with patterns will take away from the beautiful table. If you kept less chairs at the table, as Ida suggested, it might work. I would not bring in any gray. I honestly don’t think any of the covers would look better. The current color works well and lets the table be the star, the tufting is elegant and pretty, and they bring a nice soft, calm look in the middle of all of the leather furniture and stained wood … I guess I’m just not seeing the issue with them. To me, they don’t blend too much with the floor at all, due to the legs, and adding in another color and/or pattern will just look busy. I’d spend that money on new barstools instead....See MoreRelated Professionals
