downspout termination question

Larry Palmer

We're about 97% finished with a new house, but Ihave a question about how the downspouts are tied into the dry wells. The downspouts are 3" round (not rectangular) and were installed by a gutter company, and the dry well connection is 4" round flexible pipe installed by a landscaping company, and there's a lot of room open around the sides of the 3" pipe, and I'm afraid dirt/sand/animals will get in and clog it, but I can't find any kind of standard termination. Does anyone know how this should be done? None of the contractors, oddly enough, seem to know (or care).

Thanks!
