I believe that a small powder room is an opportunity to do something special, a little over the top. First off, the room has no window, right? So you always have to put the light on anyway when you go in. To me this just opens the door to dark/rich colors. Since the room is so tiny, you can also paint the ceiling the same color, maybe this would give you a feeling of endless walls. And as far as gloss goes, with a dark color--it just adds glam and makes it even more special. But, I would not go for semi-gloss, that would look like an accident to me (leftover paint, so I'll use this semi-gloss). High gloss, so the walls look wet, that is really cool. You should double check with your painter about how he will get the effect of high gloss, no roller marks. I'm currently struggling with this on my foyer ceiling. And I guess you should keep in mind that if the walls are not perfect, you will see every imperfection with the high gloss. Some people don't care, and others go crazy. Good point Lavender. Now that you point that out, as a guest, I'd feel more encouraged to help myself to the closet if it wasn't full of personal belongings. To you, which one is the bigger bathroom ?? I think they are all aprox the same size and just configured differently. I remember when you were working on your big working pantry years ago. I'd love to see what your house wound up looking like. I assume it's been posted, if so, can you share your link? Red, you just gave me an in between idea. I could take up less room and have a closet with less depth that has pegs in it and space for some other items guest may want (a wrap to sit outside, or some slippers if their shoes happen to be muddy ---hey, I can hope for no drought, right?) Thank you. I plan for a cute cosmetic update. Sure, I’d like a spacious laundry room, but that is not realistic and this setup works great. Ask your plumber or other professional what would be cheapest/easiest... moving toilet to the laundry sink area or to the bathroom sink area. Since you have sinks in both locations, you can keep one location or the other, right? And depending on floor joists, the toilet can move easiest in one direction or the other.

If you mean configuring the laundry and powder room into the utility room space, then a remodeling contractor should be able to help you with placement/code or maybe other ideas. I think, in an ideal world, we could all have all the space we need for all the elements in a house we want. But I'd rather have a powder/laundry combo, if I've determined that I need another 1/2 bath, rather than make do with one less bath than my family needs because some people object to having a W/D in proximity to a toilet, or whatever it is they object to. If you can squeeze enough space, I like the kinds of doors that pull out and tuck into the sides of the WD to hide it if you feel the need. I had both of these pics saved when I was trying to figure out how to move my w/d from a too small for today's large W/D units laundry room to my main floor bath. The first one is a bit hard to see but the doors slide/tuck in beside the machines.
