Good point Lavender. Now that you point that out, as a guest, I'd feel more encouraged to help myself to the closet if it wasn't full of personal belongings. To you, which one is the bigger bathroom ?? I think they are all aprox the same size and just configured differently. I remember when you were working on your big working pantry years ago. I'd love to see what your house wound up looking like. I assume it's been posted, if so, can you share your link? Red, you just gave me an in between idea. I could take up less room and have a closet with less depth that has pegs in it and space for some other items guest may want (a wrap to sit outside, or some slippers if their shoes happen to be muddy ---hey, I can hope for no drought, right?) Awww, thanks for the compliment on my plans. Scottie, thanks! I will definitely post the after pictures. They are breaking ground tomorrow morning so it will be a while. Sorry, I've been having trouble posting replies through this app lately. Thank you all for the great suggestions! I just remodeled the library with the main wall featuring a piano framed by faux built-in bookshelves. So, I'm reluctant to change it again. Plus, I am working with a low budget, so I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible. That being said, I just discovered Saniflo, which supposedly would allow me to move the half bath anywhere. Has anyone ever heard of this before? If it turns out I can move the half bath to the hallway where it belongs, here is a preliminary design I came up with (I'd have to figure out the pantry door, though).

Thank you. I plan for a cute cosmetic update. Sure, I’d like a spacious laundry room, but that is not realistic and this setup works great. Ask your plumber or other professional what would be cheapest/easiest... moving toilet to the laundry sink area or to the bathroom sink area. Since you have sinks in both locations, you can keep one location or the other, right? And depending on floor joists, the toilet can move easiest in one direction or the other.

Do NOT put it in the front hall, not only will it squeeze the bottom of the stairs, it will looked tacked on. Or, block the view to your fabulous staircase. Plus, I suspect the water lines are in the back of the house, so it would be expensive. Is the porch enclosed? I can't quite tell from the layout. If so, absolutely steal it from the pantry. Ideally, you'd want the bathroom door facing the porch. But if that is not possible, I would make a tiny butler's pantry area off the kitchen, which you walk thru to get to the bathroom (PD's idea). It would also be easy to vent to the outside, since the bathroom is on an outside wall. And, check the code in your area for bathroom size. In my municipality, a bathroom only has to be 3x5, so you could easily keep 3 feet of floor to ceiling cabinets in the pantry :)
