Roman shades on sliding glass door?
Comments (16)We have french doors in the kitchen and have the hideous vertical blinds for lack of anything else. We like to close them at night for privacy and during the day while we're at work for security. DH hates curtains, and the cats tug on them from when I had my old house. I really like those Hunter Douglas panels! We will need to replace the french doors mabye next summer since they are starting to have some issues due to age. I think those with the blinds in them is probably the way to go. Now to convince DH....See MoreCovering to replace vertical blinds sliding glass doors
Comments (27)I got sliding panels and shutters. I can still open the shutters if I recline the seats as shown andI I have no reason to open the shutters other than for occasional cleaning. The windows are rarely ever opened I like the way they look, but the verticals are a bit too sheer at night. There is not enough privacy. I went outside after dark and I could see inside more I would like with the panels closed. The same panels were installed on a bedroom slider so privacy is extra important there. . I'm looking for a solution. I'm going to talk to the installer on Monday to see if they have any ideas other than replacing the panels with "black out" panels. Maybe there is a way to put a separate roll down shade behind it that will add night privacy and still allow light filtering in the daytime?...See MoreNew Sliding Glass Door - Lots of Caulk?
Comments (15)That is not ideal. Let me put a disclaimer out here, that it is very difficult to judge by these pictures, and also that ultimately the company that did the installation is the party responsible for warrantying any future issues, etc. That said, based purely on what it looks like in conjunction with your explanation, I'd look into getting that interface addressed. In the one pic it does look like the drip cap is caulked to the J as well. If it were my own home, I'd probably remove the course of vinyl siding and j-channel immediately above the door and install a new drip cap, properly integrated with the wrb. The installation company would likely charge for that as it would be over and above their responsibility on a standard installation, but it is what I'd personally do based on the info given. The fact that you have an overhang a foot or two above this makes the likelihood of an issue lower as well, just giving my opinion....See More3" high threshold lip on impact sliding door causing everyone to trip
Comments (54)I live in Arizona. I’m currently having a new home built and just had my 8’ sliders installed in one guest room and master bedroom. The sill on my sliders is about 1 1/2 ~ 2” and I have kicked it several times now. Was just wondering today why is it so high? My contractor for my foundation told me I would have ALL level Entryways going from outside to inside and vise versa.. therefore myself or anyone else would never have to worry about tripping over any threshold.. I definitely have two tripping hazards! I will be contacting my foundation contractor first I guess.. hhhmmm...See MoreK A
