Granite, To Seam Or Not To Seam
Comments (11)Haha, you folks are so awesome! You've really helped me to see the light and accept the perfection of imperfection. So, I called my granite guy yesterday after the unanimous results here and told him to keep the little jerk and that I'd learn to love it like only a father could. And to answer your question may_flowers, I seriously considered an apron sink at one point, but given the hackeration that would have to happen to my existing cabinetry and the added cost of the sink itself, I decided to go with a 60/40 Kraus SS from Amazon (again, thanks to GardenWeb recommendations). I got a wicked awesome 4th of July sale price on it too, as I was going to purchase on a Sunday night at $360, but woke up the next morning and got it for around $270! So anyways, my Samsung SS appliances arrived yesterday and the granite will be installed early next week. I'll post pics when the granite gets here so you all can see how everything turned out! Thanks again!...See MoreAcceptable granite installation?
Comments (35)Just sent them the same pictures as shared here originally and asked for it to be fixed by someone else with a better handle of the job. I did not want compensation... wanted just a fix on these slabs as it took me forever to find them. They were recommended by my cabinet company. They did NOT acknowledge / apologize. They simply stated they will try to fix it. In hindsight may be they sent undertrained crew and when I put my foot down, they sent their best guys out. Who knows? They did request me not to share this information with the cabinet company. I would have eventually if they didn’t fix my countertops. Everyone deserves a chance. Hopefully they don’t mess with more customers. They appeared to know what they were doing. I was very happy with the expertise of the crew that came in today....See MoreWhich cabinet hardware to go with Fantasy Brown countertops?
Comments (9)I like what you've chosen. However, I wouldn't do the SS faucet or the sink. too much gray. Fan. brown is on the cooler end of the spectrum w/blue/grays. looks like this. (this is honed FB marble. you know it's a marble, right?) if you want to warm things up w/the champagne, fine, but bring in a bronze or darker sink BTW, if you have an L shape countertop, make sure they cut your slab so that it looks like this^. if not, you'll have the veining going in opposite directions on the corner seam. white farmhouse is always nice if you want the gold, I'd also suggest doing a warm wood somewhere. either the floor or an island, or bring in some wood w/shelving or a vent hood you said oak floors, so here is a medium brown oak floor w/FB island, and gold/black pendants. maybe an antique bronze color would work better? or the color 2nd from the bottom this tone is also nice...See MoreFantasy Brown countertops.
Comments (7)I have had fantasy brown countertops for over 5 years. Yes, they can etch, no matter how careful you are. Mine is polished, but I made the mistake of having it repolished when I had a major scratch repaired. It was never quite the same. That being said, I still love it, take care of it as best as I can. I use cutting boards and trivets, dawn and microfiber to clean, but I just do simple meals and limited baking. The only time that I can see the etches is when I look at the countertop at an angle and only in certain lights. I really don't know what else I would have chosen that I like as well. My stone had a fissure that was polished nicely upon installation. I have noticed two more fissures, but again lighting and close perusal is the only way it can be seen....See Moreaziline
