interior trim solution

I have several areas in my new home under construction where the door trim is so close together. What are some ideas to prevent this from looking so bulky- also note that there is not even enough space to even paint the wall the trim is so tight/close together. I am open to ideas on how to fix.

IMO a much simpler trim would have been better and I assume this will all be painted so MDF would alo have been a better choice . Now for the wall color a very tiny artisis brush used for the wall color before painting the trim

Simplifying the trim in these spots could be done but would that clash with the other areas of the house where the trim looks wonderful as it is not next to any other doors in such close proximity?

From your description, I would tend to side with antss and do nothing. It sounds like you worked very hard to do a nice tile job and I think sticking something on top might make it look cheap. However, if you need something here are some ideas. 1. Take off the top row of subway tile and trim it out with the black trim you have along the shower wall sides. 2. Find some small wood trim pieces (maybe quarter round or really tiny 1" or so crown moulding) and paint them black and trim out above the tile.

"would touching mouldings be bad" It happens. Delineate the meeting point in the center of the angle.. Where the 6"casing meets the other (5" ripped down) door casing. Deliniate the 2 by using a 3/16" strip and carry it proud by an 1/8". In short you continue with your casing choice trim left and right door out with 6" and in the middle door rip them down and sandwhich a strip in between them(on both sides of center door vertically from floor to top that extends outward with whats called a proud reveal, omit base in this area and paint the mess white and forget about it. common period vintage detail.

Stucco Trim is settling, solutions or issues ?

Hello to All, We added a covered patio in fall of 2015. Since then, we've had plenty of rains, but in the last 3-4 months, it's slowed down... Do the pic's above indicate more than settling? I also have 4-5 very small hairline cracks in the stucco trim too. I took a flathead screw-diver and took out anything that was loose btw the cracks so it might look a bit exaggerated. Pic one is close-up, and pics 2 & 3 are to give you a better perspective. After removed the loose material, I cleaned trim and soffit w soap and water and it's clean. was going to caulk, let it dry. then paint all. I think vertical cracks are so thin paint will cover, but should I hit w caulk too. Any other suggestions? Note, we had 12 10ft bell-bottom piers placed per PE: one on each column, 3 under fireplace and the rest throughout the concrete slab under covered area..it was 5" w a 2'x2' perimeter bean and 1 or 2 other center beams. What is the solution to trim high branches?

I have a Black and Decker battery powered chain saw that''s on a pole. It will go up to about 12 feet. There's a removable pole in the middle so you could shorten it by 3 or 4 feet. I've used it for a portable saw. They don't have the power of a gasoline pole saw especially when the batteries start getting some age on them. I cut a 7 inch Oak tree down in the woods last winter. Took a few battery charges to get thru it. I also have a 12 foot trimmer that has a rope activated cutter. They make these with a saw blade also, but the one I have doesn't also have the saw blade. This will cut a 3/8, maybe 5/16 branch. Depends on your strength?? Both could be dangerous, but from my experience you usually have the cutting end up high in the tree so there's something to break it's fall. I tried to rent a powered pole saw once. They charge enough that you could almost buy one for the rental price. The rental agent told me they get damaged quite a bit, kinda re-enforces the safety warnings. If I'm cutting a row of branches, as on a pine tree, I try to start from the highest so that as I work down the saw falls to the next lower branch.

I would think we need more context so is this issue anywhere near the other trim or in a bedroom type area for instance.

I personally prefer when trims meet.

It makes for a real design statement.

if you don't like it, you'll have to rething the trim profile... on all the trim, so it looks the same, regardless of how close they fall out.

The location for this is in a hallway from one master bedroom 2 - the door on the left is a closet door and the opening on the right is an opening to master bath 2. This area is enclosed by double doors opening to the master bedroom 2. However there are other similar troublesome areas just like this in the laundry room. I cannot change the entire trim for the rest of the house at this point. It is a large home so there is already a lot of trim work completed that looks wonderful.

I have similar situations in my house (but my trim is much simpler profile than yours). I had the trim altered to be wide enough to meet at such places so that there was no tiny sliver of drywall - it's just a column of wood and looks great.

Given that you mentioned it's too late to modify your trim, you might see if your carpenter can add a piece of flat trim to close the gap. It will almost certainly require scribing or else removing to redo it with the filler piece in place first.
