problems putting together pvc sprinkler system. help!
Comments (8)PVC is very easy if you follow the rules but it can be very unforgiving if you attempt shortcuts. When cutting PVC pipe you must be sure to cut the ends square across the pipe, then both the ID and the OD of the cut should be deburred with a deburring tool or a knife to remove any burrs or rough edges. PVC can be cut with a PVC snap cutter, a hacksaw, a PVC saw, a wire saw and in a tight spot it can be cut with a piece of Nylon Masons twine. While PVC pipe is somewhat flexible you should never rely upon that to make a change of direction. PVC pipe should always be run as straight as possible and use the appropriate fittings to make any changes in direction. While we commonly think of PVC joints as being glued technically speaking that is a misnomer. Glueing is the action of attaching two pieces together by means of a chemical which adheres to the surface but such is not the case with PVC. Technically speaking the act of glueing a PVC joint should properly be called "Chemical Welding" because the PVC glue softens both the pipe and the fitting and fuses them together in the same manner as we use heat to fuse to pieces of metal together. Per ASTM specifications you MUST apply PVC solvent/primer to all joints prior to applying glue. The purpose of the solvent primer is to clean the surface and remove the glaze from the pipe and fitting wall, thereby exposing the interior material to the glue for the chemical fusion process. PVC solvent/primer is made in both a clear formula and a purple dye formula. While both types of primer are the same many local codes require that all joints in new construction must be made with the purple dye type primer. The purple color is required so that an inspector can be sure that primer was used prior to glueing. If you have a bad joint the only solution is to cut the bad section out and use a coupling to glue in a new section....See MoreNeed Help Putting Together a Menu
Comments (51)Very nice menu. And totally doable and simple with prepping ahead. I like mixed veggies as it pleases everyone. I usually do a roasted oven tray that has full heads of garlic, sweet and reg potatoes and golden beets and anything that looks good at the market. A small cut up winter squash... As is your menu looks perfect. Burger and dog night and even taco night and gyro night are pretty high end here. Making everything from scratch takes time though i can prep most ahead like grinding the meats for burgers. DH bakes the breads and rolls. I make and the sauces and just made three different mustards...were having DirtyDogs tonight. Burgers tomorrow. With the last of the fresh garden tomatoes. I like my smoky salsa with dogs and burgers. Used fresh tarragon in place of the cilantro. And having a first taste of DH's crock of sauerkraut. -Not so sure about my TomMustard, lol. Used some tomato powder in that one. Fortunately the dogs we like did not go out of business like i thought. I'm guessing my local market may have a sloppy paying schedule that is difficult for such a small company. It is a problem with this market i've heard. Lots of things i want to try making. Hot dogs are not on that list. : )...See MoreShould I use pre-put together orchid mix?
Comments (7)There's not much bad thing to say about most orchid potting mixes. It really depends more on your environment and how you water. For a phal, this mix may dry out too fast if you live in places such as the Southwest region of the US. I've observed that if live moss growing on the potting bark doesn't stay alive, then it's probably drying out too fast for a phal to thrive. And in such situation, more constant watering or a sphagnum moss medium may be better suited....See MorePlease help me put together our living room!
Comments (67)I've been playing with the SW color visualizer tool and came up with a ton of different schemes, but this one is pointing me toward an overall house palette that I really like. It's very "beigey", it isn't at all trendy, but it's very warm, looks a lot like the clothes in my closet - jeans and earthy tops :) - and just might work. If I want to spice it up, I think I can add or swap a gray such as amazing gray or intellectual gray into the mix to bring it into the 21st century. (There's a good amount of gray in the fabric already.) I know that the colors that the app generates aren't exact, but it's a good road map. Waddyathink? :)...See Morelaceyvail 6A, WV
