Windows Design Dilemma DIY

Does this exist for windows?

I have new room darkening hineycomb shades that work fine EXCEPT around the edges where too much light comes through.

Is there a window hardware thats a sort of corner only that i can put into the wall next to the shade and hang a room darkening fabric on both edges? i don't need/want it to span the whole top of the window, just a sort of quarter/corner bracket on the top 2 corners edges. I’d figure out a valance eventually but just want the light blocked right now.

If this exists, what is it called? Any idea where i could find it? Photo of window attached.

The blinds should have been inset into the window recess. That usually means custom blinds.

What you request sounds like a Rube Goldberg solution to me.

Inside mount honeycomb shades would have been a darker cleaner fit. You have outside mount and this is the end result unfortunately. Never heard of the product you describe.

You just want the windows cased? Basic casing is about $.30 a foot and $1 a foot for install is on the high side. The usual material you would want would be mdf. Vinyl is for the outside. So a 3x6 ft window would be about 20 ft (this is linear feet and you have to add a little to the window). Sure there is some waste so your total cost would be about $30. Now there might be some extra work involved with matching up to the stool. So not a huge cost $600 for 20 windows but it is one of those areas that a builder can save some money on. It should be noted that some trim (even just paint quality) can be $2 a foot.

Sierra Pacific in my opinion is not a good choice in a window, hugging the bottom of the barrel with anything Jeldwen and Pella. I would look at the Marvin Essential (wood/fiberglass) or Elevate (all fiberglass) line, or a vinyl window along the lines of Okna, Polaris, Sunrise, etc. Mid Range aluminum clad in my opinion is asking for trouble and premature product failure.

Unless the builder screwed up, this would be very cost prohibitive at this point as others have alluded to. I like the idea of using window treatments to correct the lines visually at this point from the interior, not sure how this all lays out on the exterior and if anything is needed there. Be careful about the tempered glass thing as well, that will vary by location, your situation doesn't require it everywhere. Ultimately your builder is on the hook for making sure that this is code compliant.

That's an interesting update, luis. The article says that WIn 10 will be fully supported until October 2025. That being 4 years from now, anyone actively using a PC today that's too old to meet the required specs, should expect that either their PC will die anytime between now and 4 years from now, or that that will be a good reason and time to buy a new one. Chromebooks are okay for limited uses but not for many things people do and cannot be used with many software systems people use. Take a Chromebook, add a few features, and the price point can easily approach or exceed the cost of a new Windows PC at the low end of the pricing range. Just something to consider.

IMO add drapes to cover the gap and be done. I assume this is bedroom so I love the softness of drapes in a bedroom so just make sure the rod is wider than the blinds by at least 6' on eiter side get drapes that are 2 1/2 x the width of the rod and no more light gap.

Raise the shade and show the window. You may not have depth for an interior mount.

I'd follow @Patricia Colwell Consulting suggests...add drapery panels. Unlike the two double width panel shown here you can get away with one stationary panel each side, to block the light.

This is a youtube video about the product. It has side rails that prevent light leakage on the sides.
