Such a lovely, lovely room, the trim is wonderful; so well kept it looks brand new. Though I like the subtle texture, as others have suggested, I agree that a light wash would enhance the details of your wainscott. Don't know that I'd paint it copper or a similar metalic color, I think that in a room like that the wainscott was supposed to look like anaglypta paper, which was supposed to imitate fine plasterwork. In case anyone else is interested in a similar treatment for their walls, sheet metal wainscottis still being made by the F.W. Norman Corporation in Nevada, Missouri. They also produce ceiling panels, siding, roofing, cornices, moldings, and neat-o decorative ornaments in zinc and copper, all made right here in the U.S.A. I have an older home with V-groove wainscoting and board-and-batten paneling, and when I've painted have always painted them the same color as the baseboards and other trim. I think it would be really awkward to try and transition from stained baseboard and door casing to painted paneling. Maybe someone else can come up with some encouraging inspiration pics.

I looked at the article on This Old House, the photo is a concept and they do not provide the names of the colors. Have you used the Behr visualizer? They recommend Cafe Cream as the white to coordinate with Jackfruit. Tex max Im not sure what I want to do in the piano room yet…I wish the floors were all the same throughout the house- that will have to be a project for later- We May remodel the kitchen next year and that is when we would replace the floors throughout the 1st floor.
