here we go...I feel like crying and screaming over our build.
Comments (51)Oh, KYgirl--Big hugs coming from me, too. I haven't been on his forum in a while because I've been dealing with our own build from He$$, and I didn't read all the responses in this thread, but I did read your original post. We've just gone through something very, very similar--different problems, but similar in scope, jerk of a builder, almost no on-site supervision, several horrible subs, lots of stress and tears. It has been horrible. We ended up moving into our house ten days ago while it was still unfinished because of having to be out of our rental, reaching our bank deadline for closing, etc. I just wrote you a long post, but realized that it ended up being about me, not you--and this is your thread! So, I guess I just want to say that I sympathize with you, and I think I understand a lot of what you must be feeling. It's a good day if I haven't cried more than once before 9 a.m.! This has been the most stressful, unpleasant experience of our lives. Friends will say, "Oh, you must be so excited to be in your house," and I feel like a spoiled brat if I don't respond positively. It has been a nightmare. There's still lots to be done here, dh and I are doing and/or redoing stuff that we've already paid contractors to do, but they either did a crappy job or haven't been showing up. It just sucks. As badly as I feel for you, reading your post at least made me feel as though I'm not the only one who has gone through this and I thought you might want to know you're not alone. The old misery loves company routine, I guess! Take care of yourself, and try not to let it get you down--I know how hard it is, but if we don't look at the positive side, we'll go completely crazy. Although, at least you could then plead insanity when you're charged with killing Mr. Peanut!...See MoreI cry like a baby! I've got to get over this!
Comments (22)I remind myself of a letter I saw in Dear Abby one time, where someone asked, "What is wrong with me? I would cry at the opening of a new K Mart." :)) The thing about it is, I never cry in my own life...you know how people say they can't stop crying and don't know why. I don't cry. I am fairly stoic about many things, but I cried like a baby when I saw the Budweiser Clydesdales and I used to cry just seeing my daughter marching in a parade when she was in school and when she graduated. I will tear up over a cute baby or a pet. I do get depressed for days over cruelty to animals. Some things I just cannot stand at all. But, I don't usually cry about it. Maybe if I did, I would get over it faster. I dunno....See MoreBM & inappropriate behavior
Comments (15)"She doesn't drink anymore and you have no reason to be afraid. You don't have to talk to her, just wave and walk away." "He honestly 100% believes I am being ridiculous and "sensitive" here." I especially like the "she doesn't drink any more" line; sounds just like what every abusive drunk tells his victims. & it doesn't matter *what* he "honestly" "believes"; his "opinion" is entirely self-serving, & following his advice could get you killed. &, while I know the value of defending your teritory, don't do it when a known assailant is present. Always go to a safe place when a violent person approaches. & that's not my own personal advice; I used to date a cop, & I've seen *him* put on a submissive act & retreat to keep violence from breaking out. Stop "loving" hubs more than you love yourself; he loves himself enough for everybody, he doesn't love you or he'd take care of you, & you're the one who'll get her nose broken or her teeth knocked out or worse. Don't argue with him, don't try to convince him, just *tell* him that this is it: although you're profoundly disappointed in him, you must protect yourself, & if your assailant shows her face near you again, you will go inside, & you will call the cops. Tell him that it isn't up for discussion, it isn't a dialogue, it's just information that you want him to have, & that you will not discuss it further. & then *don't*: Don't discuss, don't argue, don't defend. I wish you the best....See MoreWould this be inappropriate?
Comments (31)arkansas_girl, of course I read the post. I don't know what gave you the idea that it would be just as well to sleep in jeans. Yes, times and fashions change; it doesn't mean we have to be lemmings and follow the crowd. 1940? Pajamas were made to sleep in; I don't know how they morphed into casual outdoor, or indoor, wear. My opinion stands; no, it would not be appropriate. Friends, father, brothers, any males, no. All girls, sure, pajama parties are old hat. Glad I could give you something to laugh about though. I enjoy making people laugh. Sue...See Moreamylou321
