Backsplash to warm up white-ish cabs & granite
Comments (48)omg -- I am so embarrassed. I can't believe it's been almost three years. I know it's ridiculous, veevs, but I still have not put in a backsplash! I collected so many sample tiles (all of which are still sitting on my laundry room counter), and then I just got overwhelmed! And then tired. And then bored. And then we moved on to other major house projects (front entry, portico, landscaping, etc.) and other decorating (window treatments, etc.). And then I just became very zen about the whole thing and decided not to stress about it, to enjoy the paint for now, and to just pick out other kitchen things first (eg, got the bamboo shades budge suggested). In fact, it's funny that you're reviving this thread now, as I await delivery of the chandelier that I finally chose for over the island. I'm hoping that getting that up next week will provide a sudden epiphany re the backsplash. I hope to return to that project this fall/winter. Of course, I'm still happy to hear suggestions and welcome any photos! Sorry the thread was such a tease...but there will be a happy ending one day! In the meantime ... enjoy your kitchen and the many delicious meals you will share with your family ... and tell them all just to be zen :)...See MoreWhite spots on backsplash all cleared up!!
Comments (12)I am so glad you like the cabinets. I stressed out over the finish. I like the look of cherry but they darken over the years and also can sometimes be too red. So, I went with Coastal Maple instead as they are supposed to remain a constant color. These cabinets were 100% custom, made by a family owned cabinet shop in Shelbyville, TN. Since everything was done right in their shop you could literally pick any stain under the sun. I showed them a picture of a cherry kitchen I liked and then they created the stain to match the pic as closely as possible....See MoreGreige colors... counter and backsplash choices
Comments (1)I'd take the first sample because of some warmer brown/copper I see running through.Everything else looks so cold to me. I would probably default to a subway in some whitish with a beige leaning toward warm tan grout. Think about warmer hardware [orb?] or maybe white porcelain hardware. You need some warmth for your palette but I like everything....See MoreKitchen Paint Color??? I have Cream Cabinets w/Greige Backsplash.
Comments (24)Well shoot. Having just said that, but looking at your last picture, I think the cream in the cabs and the white in the baseboard are fighting. :( Do you like it overall? Like when you stand back and look at it as a whole, does it look good? Because that's more important than a close-up picture. I definitely get the stress of picking colors. I was pretty nuts when I did it. Not only did I test a million, but I made a speadsheet and made notes for each color at each time/light source I tested. Sometimes it seemed like overkill, but when Snowfall White appeared as an obvious winner (all rated "good" or "very good" for each category), I was happy with the process. I was trying to match it with Glacier White Corian, and it seemed harder than it should have been. My designer hadn't done much with Corian, so she didn't have a go-to white....See Moremarmiegard_z7b
