Comments (5)Why are you replacing it? Is there something wrong with it or do you want a different style? That looks like a Kohler San Raphael model which is still available - still 24" high per the spec. San Raphael specification If you go to the build.com site you can filter all the toilet brands and models based on height. One piece toilets...See Morecharacter home bathroom renovation
Comments (9)It sounds like you need to start looking for some general contractors to look at and bid the job for you. They should be able to let you know what can be done and give you a general idea of cost. Someone will need to evaluate structural issues (moving walls, supporting bathtubs, etc) and routing of plumbing. I do think it's nice to have at least one bath tub in the house. Whether it's for bathing kids or dogs or soaking something, it is nice to have. I do think a really small place can sometimes get away without (such as a 2 bedroom home). Keep in mind that a bathroom without a tub is a 3/4 bath. A bathroom with a tub and shower is a full bath. That can matter for resale and value....See MoreIssues with quality of certain details in bathroom renovation
Comments (19)Patricia et al. He used Durock for the shower walls. I have no pics but I saw it. Most Durock is not waterproof. How did he waterproof the shower? That is the concern. If he didn't do anything else. How did he tape the seams? What type screws did he use? How did he water proof the floor and tie it into the walls? Why we're concerned is because if he didn't even know or understand that wood in a shower is a big no-no, how would he know to waterproof correctly? You may have a major mold problem in a short time if there was no proper waterproofing. Tile and grout are NOT waterproof. In a properly waterproofed shower, you could use the shower without ever adding a tile. The decorative border tile was made by me. They are tile blanks, glazed and fired, with ceramic waterslide decals sourced from Stoke-on-Trent England, and fired again. Im a successful ceramic artist and I dare anyone to criticize those! 😂 I think the tile is beautiful and don't listen to Patricia. She only likes large format bland tile for a shower. She insists EVERYONE should do it her way and she also insists everyone needs to use 4000k lighting....See MorePrimary Bathroom Renovation Quote
Comments (4)Have you gone to see his work at other places and talked to other home owners? That should be done before you ever contract with someone. It just might keep you from joining many of the others, we see on this forum, with shoddy workmanship....See Morerobert5609
