You ladies are so gracious and FABULOUS! ::clapping:: I am working today and keep popping back to check in. I am getting excited now with all the possibilities. Since I already have blue accents for that room, which also ties into my blue kitchen, can we stick with a lighter shade of blue rather than gray? My couch and loveseat is a beige and it's the one thing in the room I have no plans to change... anything else I'm up for. The room is only 15x17 and we made some changes to the original floor plan that I think may have set off my problems with the balance of the room. The fireplace was not suposed to be on the main wall. And tho I love the look of the couch directly opposite the TV, the fireplace makes that difficult to work. So, I also have placement issues along with the whole color/tall wall thing. Lindy, your makeover photo is amazing! Do you have a program that does that? DH is a landscape contractor and has design software that he takes a digital pic of the clients house to make an "after" picture. It's an amazing tool for us who are "visually impaired". I have to admit, if I can't see it, I can't visualize it. :) Susy, do you have a pic posted on your tall wall room? Should I stand on the top floor to try to get an above pic to show a better visual of the whole room? Please be kind tho ladies, the room is so embarrassing.

Welcome, fellow traveler of the "other" end of the appliance store! :-) We replaced a KitchenAid top-freezer last year. We had to go bottom-freezer to maintain the 22-cu-ft capacity we had. But we shopped the same brands. First, Whirlpool sells essentially the same refrigerators under the Amana, Kirkland (Costco), KitchenAid, and Maytag names. I know Whirlpool Corp. used to make IKEA's major appliances, too, but I don't know if that's still so. Anyway, the difference is in the little features -- rollers on crisper drawers rather than plastic drawers sliding on plastic guides, incandescent versus LED lighting, etc., -- and the warranty on the compressor (longer on KA and Maytag). So find the features and price you like and buy away. We negotiated the KA compressor warranty on our Whirlpool. It beat buying an extended warranty. We looked at Frigidaire, too, given positive experience with our Frigidaire range and long happy use of our FriGEmore washer and dryer. We also read largely-positive reviews on them. IIRC what kept us from them were a few features we preferred on the Whirlpool model we bought and that the Whirlpool was manufactured in the U.S. But I suspect a Frigidaire would have worked well for us, too.

How are the acoustics? It looks like a reverberating HELL to me. You need a rug and a lot of soft surfaces to absorb the noise, more substantial drapery for a start. The art in a picture posted above on canvas with a soft look, mostly canvas no glass, would help-a few of them!! The tall wall will disappear if you give eyes something lower to look at.

Love the paint color of your room and the furnishings. But are you sure this is the correct layout for the room? I cannot tell from one image. The TV is mounted too high in this room.
