We had a great spring here, so I am sorry you didn't. That azalea is beautiful. I hope next year brings you a double dose of what you missed this year, Marie.

ETA: I did open this thread just to find out what your subject was. I was leaning toward something about a bird bath and things not blooming, so I was partially in the ballpark. ;-)

What did not bloom for me is the peonies. There is a hole right through each bud! Also there are no more bulbs coming up. I suspect they got dug up by the rabbits who took a very big interest in them when I got them in the first place. They ate the leaves down to the ground.

I use my microphone and speak into the phone as I have some difficulty with typing as well. I too guessed that you asked about flowers that didn't bloom. So it's not a completely bad thing that you made us use our brains and peaked our curiosity :-).

Sorry to hear about your losses, Marie. The only thing that didn't bloom for me is dogwood, which isn't unusual -- it's tempermental with the blooms. Only thing I lost that I noticed is an "Ice Ballet" milkweed.

I lost a lot! Northborough MA. Blue Rug juniper, barberry and several azaleas. There's a big hole in what used to be a gorgeous cascade of Cerastium tomentosum, a newer patch is almost gone. I'm still waiting to see if my Buddleia is totally dead, or just mostly. It's been depressing.

Has been a very WARM May in these parts and many folks have commented on their tulips not having flowered. I also see several of my peonies not looking so enthusiastic either, just tooo DRY!

Like lazyladyslippoer, I lost a lot...but all the survivors have (so far) managed to put on something of a performance, if a little delayed. It was actually an excellent year for many bulbs, having a long, cool, moist spring, the tulips flowered generously throughout March and April, with the last single lates and sprengeri just winding down now. However, the mysterious non-flowering paeony has managed to taunt me again, as it has for the last decade... I have jumped through numerous hoops with this plant which resolutely refuses to perform, despite such early leafy promise.

that azalea of mine is a gorgeous color, isnt it? Very clear pink. the closest ive seen i pictures is r. vaseyii.

i dint know that ”Polly Hill” is known ouside if New England. Take a few minutes to read about about ”polly Hill Arboretum” on Marthas Vineyard. if the Vineyard werent hell to get to (for us folks witout private jets and heliocopters) id love to go back.

I spoke too soon -- my dogwood did decide to bloom, this the first week of June.

Just an fyi, luckladyslipper. Your plant is Iberis sempervivum, not Cerastium tomentosum. Which is good because it's a much better behaved plant.

I second floral, it is indeed Iberis sempervivum, perennial candytuft. Snow-in-Summer has grey leaves that are not as rigid. Floral, I did not know SIS is not well-behaved. I have a few seedlings that survived (bad wintersowing year) so I’ll be watching what they do. My Iberis is very dependable and appreciated.

luckladyslipper, I did have some dieback holes in Iberis one season, maybe after the winter of 2018?, when it was younger, and it did recover very quickly and looked wonderful the next year. I hope yours does the same.
