Comments (9)are these those plants that should not be named.. lol ... yeah .. is see the wings .... it looks much more efficient in bark removal... as compared to my rabbit damage ... which seemed to be more of a tearing.. and leaving lots of stuff there, while totally girdling the plant .... rather than the clean white wood ... i dont know how a rabbit got thru that small netting... and as i told you.. i was not aware.. of rabbits burrowing under snow... to do damage.. as you said you had something like 300 feet of snow this year ... ALL MY RABBITS DAMAGE IS NOW 3 FEET ABOVE GROUND .... and that was the level of the snow ... also ... i would bet my shiny nickle that these plants.. if they were not grafted [and who would] .. will return .... but it might take them a few months to bud out and get a move on ... which would only leaves us.. with what they are ... lol ... if they do return.. you might want to think about all your fencing and what not ... i think its really overkill on protection.. on some level.. and if these survive.. maybe you will come to think about how much protection they really need ... continued luck with your collection ... ken ps: tell hubby.. this is what gardening is all about ... no one beats mother nature.. if she so wishes to mess with us .... there is no way to win.. all the time... and he needs to go a bit zen.. on when she does win .... i mean really ... if it wasnt the snow.. and it wasnt the severe temps.. then its the rodents.. and the vermin.. and then the bugs.. and then the hail ... etc ... at some point ... you have to learn to just shrug.. and laugh ... and keep in mind.. anything destroyed.. is a space.. for something new ......See Morerabbit damage on my phlox
Comments (3)It will look like the same plant again in spring. I bought a David phlox from Lowes last year in fall, it was just a pot of roots literally. It was on clearance for 50 cents. It came back strong this year and looks great, and bloomed well. Those darn rabbits are so cute, but so destructive! Jen...See MoreHow to tell the difference between rabbit and deer damage?
Comments (22)mxk3(Zone 5b SE MI) Noticed more damage this morning - they got hold of my "Fama" scabiosa (which was blooming beautifully - Ugh!) and my newly-purchased "Samobor" geraniums, which were still in pots. -------------------------------------- Yes imagine my surprise when they ate my geraniums. They are suppose to be deer resistant. They could not resist....See MoreRabbit damage to this Hosta, now it's reverted?
Comments (11)Thanks Ken, everyone is very encouraging. I think you are right about the difference in the sun. Thanks, Steve. I will definitely be back to let you know if the product is working. The rabbits seem to be doing less noticeable damage right now. They've already eaten a lot of my lilies and have slowed up on eating the Hostas. There are people in the neighborhood that have vegetable gardens, so maybe they are there driving them crazy. I wanted to try it this year to make sure I could depend on it for next year, so. I'm going to lay some down around the areas they have already done damage. My front bed, they are still feasting on Dill seedlings too. As for the variety, I do keep records, but I've been slacking off recently. And I didn't buy this from a retail nursery, I bought it at a local plant sale, so I have no receipt with the listing of what I bought. It might have had a tag, but it's long gone.
