Thanks for the advice y'all! I went downstairs and introduced myself the other day. She was very nice (and has an incredibly cute little girl!). As soon as she opened the door I could see that dripping water was not gonna be a problem (at least for awhile!) since her couch was set across the patio door! So she hasnt even noticed the water dripping! Nevertheless, I think I will try getting some trays (at least for the smaller pots. I will have to see how much water accumulates, and how fast it evaporates cause I dont want to encourage mosquitoes! Marie in wa and FLAME747, if I were handy with tools and building things, I might try to rig something up, but I am not. Plus I think the management frowns on such things. BTW, neighbor did say she had tried to plant pansies on her patio and they didnt do very well. She asked me if she could ask me for advice when spring comes (LOL) I told her I was a beginner but that I had learned a whole lot from this forum but I told her I would help anyway I could. I am pretty sure I know what her problem is. I doubt she gets much sun on her patio. The first floor apartments are like basement apartments. It is almost completely below the level of the parking lot. The retaining wall is only about 6' away from the patio probably blocks most of the sun. My second floor balcony is just above the level of the parking lot. Maybe it would get an hour or so in early afternoon (if that much)when the sun is in the west but still pretty high in the sky. There is also another retaining wall and some trees across the parking lot that blocks the sun as it gets lower in the early evening. Does anybody have any suggestions for easy flowers/plants that would grow in such conditions? Lydia

I ditto SummerBreezeNY: This is a common problem in apartment buildings. You can't expect your upstairs neighbor to move their unit because it drips. All A/C units are going to drip. What about when it rains outside? You are going to get a lot of "tinks". You could move your unit, but when it rains, you'll hear it, too. Both our AC units make noise when it rains, but we don't have anyone dripping from above. We took a nylon rag rug, folded it over to be the same size as the top of the AC unit, laid it on top, and wrapped a bungee cord around it. We used nylon, because it doesn't rot. It lasted us a long time. We also once used a vinyl doormat w/ a fiber top. Bed Bath & Beyond last year carried a foam pad specifically for the top of the AC unit; I think it had a magnetic bottom, so it stayed in place.

I want to thank everyone for their help and very good input. My awesome HVAC team put in an EZ Trap hooked up to kill the unit if the trap fails and a regular trap on the secondary. Since then the pan was dry but now a month after the install, there is a little water in the pan. I think it's from condensation with water dripping off the unit where the blower pumps the air into the main ducts. When I feel under there, I can feel droplets of water and these seem to be slowly dripping into the pan. The pan only has a 2 mm of water in it. This is the maximum amount of water in the pan and always in the same place and I've been checking every 4 hours.Is this a small amount of condensation dripping a big deal or something to be expected with an attic HVAC install? We currently do have installed a 2' piece of flat metal flashing about 1.5 inches wide (deep) to extend out underneath the shingles in those 2 areas but the stains are still appearing the fascia. What's odd is that one side is 'cleaner' than the other. A roofer I had come out, thinks it's just the way the wind pushes the rain against the fascia. Thus he was reluctant to add an even deeper piece of flashing because he thought the wind would just push & roll the water back underneath the extension & smack it on the fascia again. Thoughts?
