It’s got an interesting look with the different colors … are the darker bricks a gray tone? If so, I think the right gray color on your trim and shutters could look great.

I’m not very knowledgable about gray paints, but lots of others here are and will hopefully see this. I’d love to see mock-ups with various grays, light to dark.

I think landscaping updates would freshen it up, too. It’s a beautiful house!

IMO just eliminating the stark white bays and painting them to match the trim would go a long way to improve the appearance of the home.

If you paint the bays to match the shutters they will recede even more.

I agree with BeverlyFLADeziner- get rid of the white!

Paint the bays, the window trim and the door surround the same light tan color as front door pediment.

You could go a dark color (charcoal, Essex Green, Park Bench Green, black) on the front door and the shutters.

The white bays are very stark, but, painting all the vinyl windows and muntins would be a big job. I could see them left as is if all the trim were white, the front door white (as is the storm) and you got rid of the (sorry, horrible, skinny, vinyl) shutters and chose larger sconces.

Put muntins in the windows and add black (authentic) shutters.

I would keep the brick and white windows. Focus on bay window and entryway trim to unite. Why the black shingles on the bay windows is that original? Depending on trim color, might consider black shutters. Great canvas to work with!!

Sorry but the white is too stark with the brick. At least paint the bays the cream color.

So this is what the bays looked like before the last owners painted them white! Let me know your thoughts also what colors to paint the shutters!

What was done before looks okay and seems balanced. Just looks like the trim could have better color choices with what we seeing going on today. It's a very nice looking traditional style home.

I like the cream before the white. If you can paint out all of the white and go dark on the shutters and front door, I think it will look great.

I would recreate this house in 3d and play with different options before doing any reno.

Paint back the bays to what they were previously - cream to match the door. Smart call on removing the muntins. They look too fussy and too faux on this modern take on classic architecture. I'd go with black shutters - a nicer contrast to the cream than green.

I agree the cream looks nice - adding real, operational shutters will really elevate the look

I O the bcream was a big plus compared to the white. I love this color with brick but the windows would be ahuge job ansd maybe not hold up well to painting if they are all vinyl I do not see muntins so maybe not all that hard.Have you thought about no shutters for a bit of a change . Whatever you decide please do not devalue this lovely home by painting the brick ever.

I hate to say it but the more I look at the tan cream I hate it! It’s so yellow! This is so hard! 🧐

It would be challenging for anyone because the colors in the brick don't go together; it's a clumsy and ill-executed colorway. Changing trim color, landscaping, shutters/no shutters etc. isn't gonna change that.

It is what it is and I'd (mineral) paint the brick in a hot second. Not white.

I was thinking of doing a dark green on the brick with off white trim and black shutters 😬 don’t hate me ya’ll 😂

Katie, there’s nothing ugly, clumsy, whatever about your brick. There are plenty of trim/shutter colors that could look nice with it, as well as freshening up the landscape, which would make a huge difference, getting new (bigger) lights, etc.

But if you are set on permanently altering it, I’d just think long and hard about resale, especially using a color other than white.

Will you have a pro do it, or DIY?

Before proceeding with something that could turn into a disaster, financially and other ways, (I’ve seen it here more than once), I’d have a consultion with a local designer.

I like the new color. It looks really nice. Better than the cream, for sure, and anything is better than that stark white.

Love it too. Change out the lights to something much larger, freshen the landscaping and it will look fabulous.

Would suggest you either remove the shutters or replace the existing shutters with new shutters that are actually operable. Don't forget shutter dogs to hold the shutters in place.

Not sure why so much previous love to go back cream trim and bays- your brick has cooler pink and some gray elements , as does roof.

I would get samples of some soft medium grays for the bays— not sure how dark. Door could be some variation, lighter or darker. Wouldn’t really go for dark green as that is yet another color.

I'm no expert but the rule of thumb is that the light should be 1/3 the height of the door. Your situation is a little complicated in that you have a transom and trim, extending the visual height of the door. Not sure how to handle that. Also, it looks a little tight for the width of the new lights as the door is recessed.

Here's an idea to give you a starting point. I can't decide if that looks too big or not. It's a traditional style house so you could do brass if that's of interest to you. Also, consider the door hardware. Right not it's not prominent but if that's getting changed out, you'll want to think of the overall look.
