Carol, my impression of MIP is that she is something of a fussbudget who "likes nice things" and would likely keel straight over and "expire" if made to grow where most of my roses grow. So, my original MIP, which is so far doing spectacularly 6 years or so on, grows in a very large pot with large amounts of Osmocote and, this spring, was amazing (see photo below). The "wrong" MIP from RVR, as 'Siren's Keep', went into the ground in one of my best spots, soil-wise, with immense amounts of compost shoveled in. She doesn't look thriving yet, got bad PM this spring, etc., but it's been less than a year and she's nowhere near established, so too early to say. I deal with the octopus arms by training them as pillars and, of course, blackspot is not a problem here.
