What brand, as quality matters? Are you having a deck there? What does it do to the interior? What were your plans for using the door?

Jeldwen is the brand. There will be a landing as you leave the house. This door will be access to the backyard and back office.

A 10', 3 panel door is not super common, especially not at the 8' height. A 9' option will be easier to find and less costly in most cases. That said, it is still a big unit, quality will be very important. The JW family of products doesn't fit that description in the eyes of most professionals.

I'll defer to the design crowd as to the aesthetics, but IMO I don't think that a hinged unit with sidelite(s) would look good unless you have the room to bump up to a 12', 4 panel door.

From the looks of the picture provided I do think a sliding door would look best.

Will you miss the 15"? I would even say you don't need a 8' high door, as it doesn't look like all your windows are going higher for your new 9' ceiling (being raised up from 8').

Keep the value of the door, or manufacturer, the same genre as all your windows and the rest of the house for that matter. Perusing your threads you have design and cabinets from Home Depot, engineered/LVP flooring, etc so I don't think Jeldwen is out of character.

If you want french patio doors then first review the floor plan, and if you want to fill the 120" opening then you'd have to have a separate window framed, probably not mulled with the french door unit (as "sidelites" inherently suggest).

That‘s just bad advice IMO. A door of that size is important to get right the first time.If your products are on the level of Jeld-Wen I would revaluate since replacing components is more expensive the second time around. Products to recommend depend on location, who is installing . The best vinyl products usually come from dealers that sell the product installed. Many other products a tier down are available from supply houses. Big box stores tend to focus on low end vinyl.

Simonton and Milgard are a coupke that are available there. Mid grade products with a bett reputation then Jeld-Wen.

Funny how people read what they want to hear. I certainly didn't recommended Jeldwen, but what if the OP's windows were already ordered as Jeldwen from HD along with her kitchen cabinets?

The desire to reduce cost should FIRST be a design issue, when you look at these drawings and try to get a sense of the project. THEN, you look at manufacturers and weigh cost vs performance for your specific project. That is proper advice.

Good lordy lordy, what will I do. I have properties with Marvin, Anderson, Pella (gasp!), Jeldwen (the nerve!), MW (lawyer up!), Crestline (big box special!), regional private label vinyl, . . . . some of those houses even have laminate counters and 3 tab shingles! Leaks waiting to happen! Sagging heads! Fogging sashes! Might as well tear the houses down!

Kitchen cabinets aren’t being ordered form HD, but I definitely thought about it. As to windows we ordered all Millard. The only reason we didn’t order the patio from them was because of the $25k price tag. Maybe that’s the average price though. It is a large patio door. Not sure because this is all new to me. I appreciate all of the feedback though

If you are in SF, windows are probably Milgard not Millard. I am not familiar with that brand and I am also in the Bay area. That is more for the audience not the OP.
