I agree, prices are high and I’m not even liking a lot of new things. Have you considered used, vintage or estate pieces? I totally lucked out at a local estate sale recently but I know they are hit or miss. If you like vintage, perhaps find an antique store or mall. My favorite stores are the ones that are not fancy and not selling true antiques. As well, I’ve bought jewelry from 1st dibs.com but they carry all kinds of things, including furniture. I’m eyeing an 18th century chest for under $2k including shipping. Just a thought.

Copeland makes wonderful furniture that is solid wood not veneered. i have two mansfield chest used as nightstands and they have been great with very heavy use.

@NagyMama I really like vintage and have been trolling for something good but havent found good coordinating pieces. we have a couple of good vintage shops and i will probably keep trolling them. I keep finding nice pieces in dark wood but the new bedroom is north facing and kind of dark so im thinking light and blonde will work better in the space.

@wsea thanks for your endorsement of Copeland. The furniture looks fab but $10k is killing me. At the same time, I don’t want to spend $$$ on cheap engineered and veneer from overseas.

I totally understand. are you looking for a bed and two dressers or just the dressers? id probably reccomend buying a different bed than a full matching set. also what wood species? i think the mansfields lightest wood would be natural cherry which isnt what i think of when i think light as the wood does darken over time.

Oh i forgot to add, maybe check out room and board for furniture as well. some of there dressers might be a bit cheaper. you need to read the details though as some of their case good are not solid wood. i also have a few pei es from them and have been very happy.

@wsea no bed…I have a white boucle upholstered bed that will stay so just the two dressers. I am concerned that natural cherry is too dark. The Linn comes in bright oak which is probably perfect in terms of color.

Ok. I looked up copeland as its been a few years since we bought. The mansfield and catalina’s lightest appears to be cherry. The Linn looks nice in the light oak.

Heres a picture of our mansfield. Our bed is 24 years old and was dark. The nightstands where light at first but have aged nicely over the past 5 or 6 years to match. They are probably darker than you want.

@wsea thanks for the photo! I definitely think the cherry will be too dark for my room. looks like it is the Linn if I go Copeland. thanks for the Room and Board recommendation…it looks like they have a couple of decent choices.

I think im going to go with the Linear from Room and Board in the white oak. I am hoping it really warms my room up. Now I need to decide on paint color (either a warm white or very pale, shell pink) and new sheer curtains. Thank you for the suggestions…they were really helpful.

Oh wonderful. we have a linear tv console that is great. good luck. maybe start a new thread with images of your pieces to get paint/color help
