I would like to know more about the "float test". I just received an order of Eastern White Pine tree seeds. The directions said to place in water for 24 hours. In doing so, none of my seeds sunk though. I was under the impression that viable seeds should sink.

Does this apply to both pine & maple tree seeds? Can someone please shed some light on this?
