When you say the rug in the living area is going away, do you mean the w/w carpet is going to be taken away everywhere we see it in the picture? Is there hardwood under the carpet or what will be there? Leaving about a foot of space between an area rug and the wall is a good look. I prefer big rugs in big spaces, especially under a dining table. Too small, and with a table and chairs on top, it looks odd to me. I have a LR and DR spaced somewhat like yours. I have two oriental rugs that complement each other, but they don't match. The space between the rugs is large enough that each (and the room furniture) defines its own area. But if you had two great rugs that matched, I think that would be fine, too. Any links to show us? How about a floor plan to visualize the floor space better?

Don't go overboard with the acryllic. There is plenty of it already. Remember the purpose of a "coffee" table is a place to set down your coffee cup. Therefore, I think it should have more substance than acryllic so your room doesn't look like a show room for an acryllic manufacturer. I wouldn't mind if it matched the silver sofa table either. Center it with the FP, and draw the seating to it. I think once your seating is gathered around the coffee table, the navy bench will fit nicely at the window, behind the two chairs. I would look for black and white dining sets. I would change the curtains to white and make sure they just touch the floor.

Sorry, not sure why the picture didn't post. Here it is again. RL, I like the round pendant and the pleated one in your first set of suggestions. Is that a Nelson bubble pendant? Also, I should have given a few dimensional details. The table is 36" wide at the ends, 40" wide in the center. Ceiling height is 92".
