J E Murphy is a relatively new Tea the I got from Rose petal Nursery. I wish I could tell you more about it. Maybe ask Cydney about it. He is a pleasure to deal with. I actually made a order today. I had been really depressed and down this year. Haven't even been reading the forum much. We had a really rainy wet year. I don't understand why still. But I lost a bunch of Rose's. I did my potting soil like always, so I don't know. It had me really down and discouraged along with everything health wise going on. I was feeling better and planting a few that had survived. JE Murphy Pink was one, and it had a pretty pink bloom on it, and the scent was divine, it was a light in the darkness so to speak. Next year my husband is installing drip irrigation, I think it's called, on all of my Rose's in ground. I can't wait. Even though rain messed with my pots, it's not enough in between in those hot dry summer days. I know the rain messed up, and killed my Rose's in pots, but what I still don't understand is how. They didn't hold water. It flowed straight through them. Drainage looked excellent. From the outside. Still confused on that one. I guess it didn't dry out enough in between? Idk..

We have a terrible deer problem here, so my heart goes out to you, Indyroma. I use the home made spray because the commercial ones are soooo expensive. (Like $40). I mixed up some a few days ago: eggs, a little milk, whole dried chili peppers, lots of garlic powder and water. Put some vegetable oil in it to help it stick to leaves. I process it in my Vitamix blender, but still have to strain it because your pump sprayer will clog. It works well. After it dries, like bethnorcal says, you cannot smell it. The deer have been browsing on my hosta, clematis vine, and roses. It is horrible- I am torn because they all have babies right now and are really hungry. But we work too hard in our yard to have it all eaten in a few days. I am truly sorry about your DA buds. Hopefully, you can get them sprayed and they will re grow new buds for you.

I grew a large number of OGRs on multiflora that were bought from Pickering. They were wonderful. The Centifolias I had on multiflora did much, much better (more flowers, sooner, more good canes) than own root centifolias. I had four Albas on multiflora and all were excellent. The problem was, I planted these roses in small borders (based on the sizes I'd seen in this area for centifolias and albas. They outgrew their beds and they did not take kindly to transplanting into good dirt where the hoards of voracious moles and voles devoured their roots. My soils are acidic and Dr. Huey-rooted roses end up being Dr. Huey. Based on some strangers' rose gardens that I've watched, in four years their diverse gardens are Dr. Hueys and not much else.

@Lakshmi S thank you, please call me Kim. Have you tried cutting Dame de Coeur in partially opened bud and continued opening it indoors? Even if you cut a partially open flower and allow it to sit on your counter until it is partially wilted, it should release scent for you, unless its combination is simply one you are either physically or genetically incapable of perceiving. Most of us fit into that category concerning some scents and flavors. There are simply so many factors which determine whether or not the scent will express itself, last sufficiently to be perceived not to mention whether you will be capable of perceiving it. Until just a few, short years ago, natural raspberry tasted and smelled "green and wet" to me. I don't know what changed, but all of a sudden, I could taste and smell raspberry's sweetness. "Tea" still smells like clean Tupperware and Orthene.
