I am thinking of getting a Cornus Kousa 'Satomi' However, I am wondering if the fruit drops in the fall and creates a mess beneath it. I read that while the fruit is edible, birds and wildlife here don't eat it. I am worried the fruit will drop to the ground and create a mess (kind of like the crab apple trees that were planted next to the sidewalks on my street in the late 1950s) I could harvest some of the fruit myself when the tree is young, but I am thinking of years from now when the tree is taller . It will be planted next to a patio and I would prefer not to have to clean the fruit up in the fall. Does anyone have any experience with this tree? Thanks
