do i need quarter round for a floating engineered floor
Comments (2)If you decide to not take out your baseboards from the wall, install your floating wood floors with expansion space required by your flooring manufacturer. Then you can use quarter rounds to hold your floating wood floor down and cover the space. If you decide to remove your base boards first, install the floors, then put back the base, you may use quarter rounds or not since your existing base will hold down the floating floor. I like the baseshoes plus baseboards better than Quarter rounds. Thank you!...See MorePlasterers & GAP between Wall and Floor. Is this Normal?
Comments (8)That is not normal. But I will not kick the sheet rock crew yet.. For I do not know if the floor is level or warped/wavy. If so They could have used a zip saw to cut the contour of the floor into the bottom of the sheet rock before hanging it. Taking the time to do that creates another bigger (to me) problem. The gap would then be at the top along the ceiling and have to be patched and worked to hide which could be a lot of hassles to make it look as it should. I would much rather have the bottom look as your does than have a bad looking, fit and finish along the ceiling. Vapor barrier.. Not needed with Roxul Insulation.Roxul Insulation is very water repellent and does not hold moister like fiberglass insulation does. For it is made of Stone Wool....See MoreWhite baseboards and wood flooring - which quarter round?
Comments (42)Update: I picked Bruce Ameican Home Walnut laminate and went w/ painted white shoe molding, not quarter-round. I thought about removing the baseboards. But this laminate can be removed and re-installed to replace any damage, and if it was run underneath the baseboard, I figured that would be trouble. I had a dilemma deciding what to do in front of the front door (painted or stained) and went w/ the painted there, too. It looks strange to me because you can see the black from the weatherstripping on the bottom of the door between the white door and the white molding, but I'm hoping that soon I won't even notice. I'm still looking for rugs, so if I get a thicker rug there, hopefully it will distract my eye....See MoreGaps Between Air Register and Wall/Molding
Comments (4)Would you paint it one color or match the white trim and gray wall? Also, is there anything decorative that I could put on it?...See Moreres2architect
