Weeping cherry should be graft compatible and will still weep if so. I don't know about pollination, my weeping cherry looks like a prunus avium (sweet cherry ancestor) but there are different types of weeping cherry. Scott

Another question - could you put buds onto the new young tree and expect to save some of the original tree's buds and thereby get 2 varieties on same tree? One variety available locally is a Garnet Beauty which would be a good variety for me as it would extend my peach harvest season a little earlier - could I bud a few Raritan Rose buds onto the trunk below the existing tiny shoots and expect to get both varieties on the same tree without removing all of those existing branches? is my question clear? Grafting is a new idea to me but am willing to experiment.

The Howard Miracle graft took really well, and is out growing the apricot.. However, it picked up some kind of bark problem and I thought it was dying...but it's still going. The Apricot is in a 15 gal container, so that must put some limits on the entire tree, but the Howard Miracle's growth has been impressive. I can't report on the fruit because I haven't always remembered to hand pollinate and some large animal has been climbing up the tree, eating all the leaves and breaking off the branches that were blooming. So it's a work in progress.

I've had better luck grafting buds on newer wood of a young branch especially if the tree is old. Graft a few buds to ensure one takes. Grafting now or spring? If it's spring graft a scion instead of a bud would be my suggestion
