please help needed!!
We have a waterfront apartment here in NY. So far we trying to make our living room look nice but we are stuck with how to put it together, ( kids friendly) as right now we only have a sofa and a console table we turned into a table in case family come, apartment it’s kinda small but I’ll share here in the hope someone can help us put it together.

Comments (35)Whatever you do, DO NOT Paint the copper gutters and downspouts. They are an architectural feature. There are spit opinions on painting brick. If it's an ugly color, paint it. My personal experience was painted brick was the easiest, most durable house covering. It was 25 years before we had to paint our house a second time. We washed the house every year and the paint was incredibly durable. Trim paint is another issue entirely. It took constant upkeep. If the house is stucco, use an elastomeric paint. It's much thicker than regular house paint and designed to expand and contract with the stucco. You can tint it, just like regular paint. Comments (1)You can get away with doing it any number of ways. I'd probably keep the plumbing fixtures - sink and bath - the same. I’d focus on a rug and nice window treatments. Your view is awesome! You could remove the blinds and have drapery across that wall. Or you could do textured shades. The colors in my last picture here are similar to your room—light sofa with some dark wood. Do you like neutrals or want some color?

last yearI would look at rugs with blues to go with your nice view - these are two from West Elm - caveat: it is hard to tell how a rug might work with the sectional since colors aren't always true on a monitor - I will often order the 2x3 rug to test out colors as its easily returnable and the full size rugs are not :)

PROlast yearIf you are able, look into apartment sized furniture as it might fit the space better. If you're keeping the sectional then just try accessorizing it. Maybe try adding a rug, some plants, artwork, and window treatments.
