We went to Terrain for brunch and came home with crabs. ( I got one as a gift for someone).

Aren't they cute?

Love that ... Ill have to check out the other designs but the crab would make a great mother's day gift (not that mom or I need ONE more cutting board ... but there's always room for a new serving board. ;) )

I’m wanting a custom cutting board to replace the stainless steel cover over the griddle. I found a man on Etsy that custom makes these. They are gorgeous. I want walnut, he’s quite a lot more expensive, than Wolf, but the board is gorgeous and I want to it completely cover the grill area. Worth ever penny to me, my 48” gas, six burner with griddle wasn’t cheap, but their cutting board looks cheap to me. If you search on Etsy, put in The Woods Woodshop Company, his name is Cameron and he’s very nice!!

"----CSIRO here has done studies which indicate wood is self-sanitising---" I am familiar with that report, but I am still keeping an open mind. We all know wood goes rotten if not protected soon. That's why wood is used to grow mushrooms. There is very limited ability for wood to sanitize, it seems to me. And the report says, "---Some wooden boards have been reported to exhibit antibacterial properties. After a short period of time, fewer bacteria have been recovered from these boards than from identically treated plastic ones.--" "Some" means not all. "Short period of time"? what does that mean in a kitchen environment? There is also, "Experts disagree on whether wood or plastic cutting boards are the most sanitary. Most governmental agencies in the United States recommend plastic, while other experts say scarred, rutted plastic cutting boards can harbor just as much bacteria as wood." Try this: use a woodworker's scraper and scrape your wood cutting board after you clean it and you will see a lot of stuff that have not been cleaned away. len, you’re welcome. You won’t regret it. I hope you intend to cut right on the island, not just have a beautiful wooden island that you’re paranoid about getting marked up. We passed the 10 year anniversary this past June and while I’ve toyed with sanding it down a bit as mentioned above, I think we’re going to give it a few more years. Of course a few weeks after we hit 10 years we got a really bad stain from where I left the metal disc from a food mill sitting on the counter overnight. I don’t understand why a wet piece of metal leaves a dark black stain in the wood. There’s some sort of reaction between the wood and the metal when it’s wet. It’s not a rust stain. The marks are black. I’m sure it will sand out if I bother but… who cares? It’s a kitchen, not a museum.

I have a freestanding 30" x 24" maple cutting board on little rubber feet on the island countertop between the refrigerator and my prep sink. I felt it would be more useful there than next to the rangetop, but since it is portable--albeit heavy--I could use it next to the rangetop if needed. It has become the most used surface in the kitchen for prepping vegetables and fruits, kneading bread dough, fixing meals, etc. I have TONS of other counter space, and it has all become secondary to this island cutting board surface. So, consider a large freestanding board, the largest you can lift and move: you can use it wherever you need it; you can remove it entirely when you want to; and you don't have to worry about what crumbs and juices might get in between your countertop and a built-in board.

They also have a trout I think, and lobster. They are very substantial.

I had this Jilly: Arugula & Stone Fruit Salad | prosciutto, mascarpone, micro basil, apricot vinaigrette, croutons, pistachios

Honestly, this company can do no wrong in my book. I like almost everything at Anthro, Terrain and Urban. Their cafes are very good!

I bought my first ever diffuser because I loved this scent. It is a subtle citrus. They describe it as citrus, ocean mist and kelp. Umm, what?

I got new cutting board yesterday too! You’ll never guess where.

I love yours…I need to go check out the lobster one. We could use a decent board for our cottage.

Very nice, but i do have to roll my eyes at some of the prices at all the above mentioned places.

Speaking of substantial cutting boards, someone gave me this one as a gift. its from Crate & Barrel. I could barely lift it. It went back.
