What is confusing about this post is that in the US FRT sheathing has no fire-resistance rating only a flame spread and smoke contribution classification and it does not improve the fire endurance of a fire-rated assembly such as a one-hour exterior wall to any significant extent. Why it would be specified or required inside of a wall assembly that might be exposed to a fire in an adjacent building is puzzling. The only time I have needed to use FRT wood framing was in a non-combustible multi-family structure and it would not have been acceptable in many others states. In a wood framed building typical US codes are concerned with limiting the temperature of a wall surface on the opposite side of a fire for a specific amount of time and for the assembly to still be intact after a hose stream test. If I were the architect I would not be concerned with FRT sheathing where not required but the construction of the wall to provide adequate fire protection which so far appears to be missing. The use of a wood fiber and concrete composite siding would have little or no effect on the time inhabitants or the fire service will have to do what they need to do. Yes, the closing mechanism is in the top and bottom hinges, some kind of spring, I believe. I think I've figured out how to tighten the springs which pulls the door closed. I used an Allen wrench and turned the pin clockwise a couple of ratchets.

I have an office that has a conjoining door from the office to the garage and a door from the office to the master bathroom. I would like to have sliding pocket doors to save footage required for opening space. For both the door to the garage and to the bathroom my questions are: Does the door from office garage need to be firerated per code? Does the door from office to master bathroom need to be firerated per code? Are there fire rated pocket door options? If so, do you have links? Attached are the design drawings of the office remodel I am doing.

The Provia is worth it. If you buy the garbage at home depot for $1000, you will be lucky if it stops some cigarette smoke, never mind a fire. It will also do a poor job at keeping the cold out of your home. Remember, lots of cold air comes through a garage. There is a good reason as to why the products that are sold at home depot are so cheap and it‘s not because they have pricing power or sell good products. If you want to go the cheap route, just cover the door with some plastic and have a fire extinguisher close by. All kidding aside, try to go with better quality, it will cost more but save you money in the long run.
