help! Need window treatments for large corner windows
I have a modern home with corner windows that face the street. Primary goal is to block solar heating; in the summer, afternoon sun pours in and bakes my whole house. A bit of privacy is secondary goal. My first hope was to mount solar shades, but professionals have said that won't work because there will be a gap where the glass panels meet in the corner. Next thought was window tints, but just got a couple quote for many thousands of dollars for just two rooms, and the films are not big enough to cover the front window without a seam/overlap. I could do curtains but I don't love that option with the modern asthetic. Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Comments (12)Thank you all! My most urgent needs are night privacy and cool temp insulation. I'm leaning towards drapes on the sides to soften the space and a blind in the middle to lower at night. As for all the wood, I agree, it's too much and I've been considering painting the built-ins. I'm just worried I won't like it afterwards and can't unpaint it. Comments (7)If you continue the line of the curved, pulled-back curtain up to the ceiling, I think it does make the room look taller. I'm not sure how you would attach the curtain along the sloped ceiling, but I have seen it done. You could then experiment with exactly where to tie the curtain back; if you hung full length drapery, you could tie it back lower.
