UFO, Spider Recommendations for Zone 8a
Comments (24)I just came back from a month's visit with my mom in Missouri, and it's been quite an experience. She happens to live in one of the major areas that was flooded. Fortunately, the house is in the hilly part of town, so we weren't directly affected by the high water. However, I was very affected when I wanted to go home. I could not leave, because Highway 67 South from Pocahantas, Arkansas was shut down. Parts of it were underwater, so I had to wait. When it did reopen, I couldn't leave because of a death in the family. It almost seems frivolous to say that my husband was calling me with the daylily report since I couldn't get home in time for the first daylily bloom. In this time, a number of the daylilies have bloomed and I am happy to report that all the new daylilies ordered have blooms or have scapes. My only UF that is blooming is "Destined To See", and it is just cranking up for a big bloom season, if the weather cooperates. I was happy to see new messages. Nate, glad to know that "Skinwalker" is better than the photos. Like you, I wasn't too keen on it, but now I'll reconsider. Nancy, I looked up "Concorde Nelson" and the photos of it are lovely, ditto with "Savannah Sweetheart". I do like doubles, but I have only a few. One of my favorites is the Joiner hybrid "Jean Swann" and I guess Joiner does all those "Savannah" named daylilies. You can imagine, being gone a month with no computer, I am way, way behind reading all the topics on the Forum. I will be up all hours trying to catch up. Oh, yes, I have seen "Frilly Bliss" and I think it's another one going on the next year's list. Anybody else with more recommendations, please chime in. I love finding out about any UFs. Comments (6)Ouch! What a subject! I cant even "honey do" anymore, "Honey wonÂt" until I finish the 15 or more left undone since our foyer reno in 07. Seriously, good luck with the health issues. Hope it resolves in a positive way. ItÂs good to have your parents to help out for this. Maybe you all can make it into a fun day working together. I have a 5x7 notebook in the kitchen where I put the to-do list, most of it mine because no one else can do it. DH is an engineer, he has to see a task that has a clear solution. If thereÂs not something like "need nut A to go with bolt B", or "pick this up and move it here", he canÂt do it. And forget colors. Everything in the house would be white semi-gloss. I feel like I add more to that book than I cross off each day. Everything I start leads to something else or uncovers some kettle of worms that has to be dealt with too. You DID want commiseration, right? You have it. Sincerely. Now give me some. Long list! HahahahahahahahahahÂÂÂ..sigh. Paint the nailholes filled with putty in the bathroom moldingÂ.left undone since July 08. Paint the nailholes filled with putty in the kitchen moldingÂ.left undone since Sept 08. Decide (finally) on a kitchen trim colorÂleft undone since spring 06. Finish spackling those weird divots left on the kitchen wall near the baseboard, and put the trim back. I wonÂt say how long thatÂs been undone, as a matter of fact I wonÂt admit anymore how far in arrears any of this stuff is. Finish cleaning the gorgeous brass antique looking mirror I left in the basement too long which has weird spotty green growths of corrosion on it. I spent 7 hours of Saturday on this. And itÂs still not done. ItÂs evil demonic corrosion that keeps coming back. Revenge of the neglected mirror. I expect any moment to see Dorian Grey staring back at me. Do bathroom Craftsman style stencil. Find some special magnet catch to hold craftsman mirror door shut. Regular ones wonÂt fit. Have already spent too many hours hunting for a solution. Nail it closed? Put stained trim around huge wall mirror on bathroom. Figure out a molding transition between kitchen and tunnel to dining room. Paint the dining room and install chair rail molding and door trim. Figure out how to cover a 7" wide border that goes around all the doors with molding. Repair the bobbin lace curtains which yellowed and I washed, now have minute tears. Iron the sheers which wrinkled when I washed them. Finish rearranging the lamps for dining room and living room and return the new shades I bought that didnÂt go after all. Find/Buy pull rods for family room drapes since pull cords broke and pulling them by hand has unhooked half the hooks Nail together the wood trivet frames (using leftover mosaic tile from the 06 kitchen backsplash install) now varnished and waiting in the basement. Grout them. Clean dirt and dried food from "new" DR set bought off CraigÂs list. Wax. Enjoy. Drink wine at new table. Don't spill any. Find a place for table linens displaced by sale of old buffet which had more drawers (6) than new one (2). Have no clue. No clue. Find a place for pottery/art objects displaced by moving bookcase out of said dining room to make room for "new" CL dining room set. Said objects residing in bins on my bedroom floor where I can stub my toe on them every night while getting up to go to the bathroom. That way I canÂt forget I still need to do this. Useful reminder system. ItÂs system, I tell you. Find a place for sewing supplies displaced by sale of old DR buffet, currently residing in stacked bins on my home office chair, where I have to move them everytime I need to do work. I can ignore these for a while. IÂm too tired to work. Forget money. Transform former guest room to a cozy new "library" . Have to get all the books and junk off the floor first and remove wallpaper. Ugh. I could write more but IÂve made myself too tired. Will go get some coffee and see if I can get one thing crossed off today....See MoreHave You Ever Seen A UFO?
Comments (16)Yes I have. I was around 18 years old and my bed was right beside our back porch which was not screened at the time. It was late, around midnight when I turned over to look out the window and talk to our dog that slept right under my window on the porch. Over Daddy's garden in the back was this really big light, I thought it was the moon. But, there was NO moon that night and I know that because I remember the weatherman talking about it being such a black night without the moon outside. And my sister and I had been laying outside in lounge chairs with binoculars looking at all the stars because it was such a black night. We liked doing that when there was no moon. That light lingered for a while over the garden and then just blinked out! I mean one minute it was there and then it was just gone. A few nights later my sister woke me up hysterical. We shared the same room just had different beds. Mine was by the window and hers was by the door. She said she woke up, heard a noise outside the open window. She sat up and saw 3 men like things looking in the window at me laying there in bed a sleep. She said they must have been short because of the height they were in the window. They had a large head, big eyes and a tiny slit of a mouth. When she made a noise they looked up at her, stared a minute and just disappeared. That totally freaked me out. And outside my window in the dirt were prints of little feet. Foot marks like I have never seen before! Deb...See More*March* UFOs-no-more
Comments (24)I've been collecting frog fabric for 20 years or so...no real plans yet :) (I just picked up some today). We should do a little swapping:). I recognized most of those in your quilt, but not all. And then we could make some charity quilts? I'm getting WAY ahead of myself, but what do you think? I know of a few easy, quick quilts that would work with all those frogs. Cheryl ps: my sister and I both collect frogs; her name is Susie...See Moregeezerfolks_SharonG_FL
