Yes, it is definitely new construction so probably straight from the nursery - that tree isn't common or as common to see around this part of southern California, so I'm interested in how big it grows around these parts.

Milney - if you cut it back hard, it will get bushier by way of back-budding. It's your plant, so enjoy it the way you want it. We see plants every day that have been allowed to grow way out of bounds, making impossible the grower's realization of whatever vision was once held for the plant without a major deconstruction and rebuilding to put in place a framework it makes sense to try to build on. The ability to prune judiciously creates additional pruning opportunities that allow you to take control over what the plant looks like instead of the plant just having its way. Al

Tiffany, I bought them at a Garden center/Nursery near where I live. All their plants were in beautiful condition and many had blooms growing and many had a lot of pups so I'm super happy with all my plants
