Comments (57)So glad to hear you are feeling better, Yeonassky! Isn't it amazing how exercise becomes such a part of your daily routine that even when sick you want to get out there! I am not there currently lol.. but I have been in the past and will be again. Best wishes in the new year and with your increments with running and pushups! Prickly what a great feeling to look back at the last year and to see your accomplishments right there in the mirror! What really stands out to me is that you say you feel "strong and fit" ... and that you have significantly reduced your digestive issues. Those are the kinds of changes that impact your quality of life! I am impressed and so happy for you! Well done! And prickly's post reminded me that we all have been here posting and sharing experiences since what? May? It has been so very helpful to have this forum to share experiences, articles, recipes and successes! You all have kept me focused when I want to throw up my hands ... and inspired when I think I just can't eat another cucumber LOL. Thank you all for coming back here week after week! ❤️❤️❤️ So I can't really explain my update this week-- but I am down 4lb since 12/31 --- 3 lb lower than my lowest weight in 2022. I definitely cut back on the indulgences, but I really didn't expect to see any losses-- in fact, I am pretty sure my calories were higher than usual! Comments (15)Also got food poisoning in NOLA, so I totally understand. We were there for the college football national championship. My friend and I had the same lunch except she got chicken gumbo, and I got seafood, and a few hours later I was vomiting, and it was game day. I made it to the game and drank ginger ale. That would have been horrible to spend that much money and miss the game. Luckily, our seats at the dome were on an aisle and near a bathroom. But I was feeling better by game time than the afternoon and then luckily for the long bus ride home the next day I was OK. But yes, I have an aversion to gumbo now. Also still haven’t done my decorative flowers! This week is supposed to be good weather, so I should be able to go out and get them. I will do the front planter box, hanging baskets, and some general pots for the deck. I did a Pilates reformer small group class yesterday so it was good to be back for that. I need to re-up my private sessions. DH bought me a gift certificate for my birthday, but he bought the group classes vs. privates. With the new studio, she has changed the class offerings, and he doesn’t really know the difference between a class pass and private session. So, I have over 10 class sessions but now 0 private lessons, so I will need to buy another package. He is actually intrigued by the Reformer, so maybe he will use one LOL. But I have to start somehwere with him with basic strength training. He just had his physical and everything is great—cholesterol, A1c, PSA, etc. But yes, after having alcohol more days last week due to travel and my birthday, I am ready for another dry period. We have Peter Frampton tickets at the end of the month, so no need to have any alcohol until then. We picked the rest of our lettuce from the garden since it was getting near the end, so lots of salads this week. I ordered the Oikos protein yogurt with my online shopping order yesterday, so that will be a good afternoon snack. I tracked my food as best I could but it’s a huge educated guess when dining out. Comments (13)Yesterday was my first day out of the house and I made a beeline for our community farmers’ market. Delicious veggies and fresh eggs were in abundance, and I bought a lot from my favorite vendor. In the bag: red new potatoes and the most delicious green and purple okra! Also some very small cute red and yellow biquinho sweet peppers (not visible) that I am planning to use in salads. A beautiful eggplant, freshly hulled limas and black eyed peas, garlic garlic, and two varieties of tomato. I harvested my back porch basil and made this for yesterday’s lunch homemade basil walnut pesto on toast, topped with slices of heirloom tomato, heavenly! I’ve already cooked the peas in chicken broth and have made a beans and rice dish to be eaten throughout the week, and have roasted eggplant slices, the potatoes, and four older tomatoes we already had (with olive oil and balsamic vinegar). The latter I scraped off the pan, mashed thoroughly and now have a delicious savory tomato jam I used on my and DH’s morning eggs today. I am going to make dilled potato salad with the roasted potatoes as I find using them gives the dish so much more flavor than using boiled ones. Between our vacation (DH and I both lost weight) and recent illness I am now at the same weight I was at age 35. Interestingly, I don’t look different but my weight seems to have been completely rearranged or redistributed, if that makes any sense, and my clothes are fitting differently. I bought a belt a few weeks ago in my regular size and I’m buckling it in the smallest hole. 😳 No idea if my body will “settle” at this weight (and no panic if it doesn’t) but I am enjoying having a real waistline again. Comments (31)I missed a bunch of updates this week-- my apologies! Welcome back, Sue! I seem to do better with a "bigger" or normal lunch and a light dinner too. It is hard though-- I need to not only have fast stuff stocked but I also need to have the time (I have had meetings over lunch or that cut into lunch). I am making a pot of soup now for at least the first part of the week. Dinner may be an apple and pb or a salad.. or more soup. GS, wow-- nice haul there! Congrats on the toning and the lost lb! I am going pretty well on eating-- and poorly on water and exercise. I am hoping things settle down in a week or 2 so I can get into a routine. I am fairly good with routine once it is established. I was going to make a turkey sausage and zucchini soup today-- but the zucchinis had gone bad in the middle (or they were delivered that way and I didnt notice). I didn't feel like sending a new order in so I adjusted based on what I had in the pantry ... I added black beans, chopped red peppers, and dried chopped hatch chilies & spices ...to the turkey sausage, mirepoix, garlic and chopped tomatoes. I may add frozen white corn-- but not sure it is necessary. Don't you love that about soup? You can easily pivot and make something delicious with whatever you have on hand!...See MoreFunkyart
