Devastating winter here in the 'Burgh (zone 6b, but really more like 5b). Venerable bushes almost 15 yrs. old, some of them zapped like a Death Angel walked through my roses. However, none outright killed, mostly dead to the gdoundwgroundgdoundwground. Surprisingly, vigorous hassvigoroushassvigorous basals abound, everywhere I look.

Two killer days, two weeks apart, when temps plummeted 50+degrees F in one day., to below zero F., each event also had winds 50+ mph.'. These two events were the game breakers, IMHO.
