I'm not an expert but when choosing paint colors, I prefer contrast. I would get a few samples and paint some spots on the wall to see what works the best with your tile. If the tile leans more towards white I think a soft sage color would be pretty with the elements you've described, but if your tile leans towards a brown, it's hard to say. If you can post pictures, it would really help.

In terms of waterproofing, posters are correct that taking out tiles compromises waterproofing. However, I recently remodeled my master bath which had a tub/shower combo with the all in one sides. They did NOT go all the way to the ceiling but the "plastic" sides ended at some point above the shower head. When the wall was demoed down to the studs, there was no mold behind the walls so obviously the upper level of the walls did not seem to need to be waterproofed. As others have posted, you will not be able to match the tiles so you could find accent tiles and use them as if it were an intentional design statement. That might hold you until you decide to do a complete remodel - building a shower, at least in my experience, is pretty costly if done correctly - I think mine was between $8,000 and $10,000 for for the waterproofing and tile work - it could have been more but I did a complete remodel so lots of the costs were bundled together - i.e. showers in guest and master bath.

So, we've decided to get the West Slope light, it's OK and it's easy at this point. Now the decision is which size?? I've included a link to the fixture and am also attaching pics of a "mock up" in the room. We have some concerns about too busy/visually crowded for the intermediate size, but have to balance it against enough light, etc. The sink faucets are 39 inches apart (center to center) and we can't move them significantly because we're keeping the vanity (with new countertop). So what do you think about the 3 options? Are there any guidelines for vanity lights? The lights will be at the height of the current fixture. The mirror (just beveled/no frame) will sit under it. It's resting on countertop now.
