Laundry Room Flooring Design Dilemma

Can I mix these two tiles in a laundry room/pantry floor?

I found a linen look 12x24 gray floor tile on clearance at Emser. It's about 200sft with loads of bullnose pieces for $50. (it included about 100sft of the tile in light tan as well on the pallet). I couldn't pass it up for my laundry areas and the ones in my rentals.

Now, I have maybe 30 square feet of my gray finger tiles left as well. Can I mix these two colors or would it look a mess? Are they too clashy? There is a little brown rim on the finger tiles... not sure it that counts.

I ended up mixing my bargain basement tiles in a stripe pattern on my laundry closet. I love it so much I want to leave the doors off! haha Thanks @BeverlyFLADeziner

How would you lay them out?

The smaller ones would have a lots of grout lines. Is the grout requirement the same for both?

they have vinyl or whatever it is! That is soft and pliable. It's really pretty. We are going to use it for the church sacristy. Some of the choices look like slate. I saw it at either Lowe's or Home Depot. It would do well on an uneven floor. Wish I could come over and help you fix up your laundry space : ))) I remember those days when I lived on the 3rd floor and did laundry in a basement with no windows. Having a laundry room off the kitchen is my favorite thing about our house. Wishing you a pretty laundry room soon!

I'd want it to stay separate. What is that window in the laundry facing? Would it be possible to have a door on that wall? I'd put a door across from the pocket door and put the washer dryer to the longest exterior wall. Then you could probably fit a sink in there somewhere. If you move the doors more to the center then you have space for a whole wall of cabinets on the interior wall. You could do a tall cabinet for cleaning supplies, brooms, etc. Then have a folding counter if you like. I'd move the pocket door from kitchen into the pantry up as much as you can. As it is now, you don't have anywhere for a lightswitch in the pantry or the laundry. If you add a 36" exterior door from the laundry then you can have the pocket doors be 30". I'd use the wall inside the pantry to hang aprons or have a shelf for cookbooks or even wine. Also, think about how you will use the pantry. A sink is good if you will actually work in there, but if not then a sink in the laundry is better. You can use that sink for messy stuff. I use the sink in my laundry to wash dogs, arrange flowers, clean bird feeders, wash up from crafty stuff, clean the grill grates, etc.

Since people are continuing to post on this thread instead of the one on Kitchens, I'll re-post my comments here... Where will you be bringing the groceries into the house? How do these rooms relate to the rest of the floor and house? In general, separate rooms are better - for a more practical reason. Pantries should be cool, dry, and dark. Laundry Rooms are none of those! In particular, it is not a good idea to mix heat and moisture with your pantry items - at least not if you want them to last! Aesthetically, I would not want someone who needed to go into my pantry to also see my dirty laundry (or even clean laundry)! And yes, it would be an issue for me if I was considering buying your house. . Are you also redoing the Kitchen? If so, I suggest posting the entire Kitchen as well. The toilet is strange (being wholly exposed from the side view) in it's original configuration, now it is the same but seen in the mirror, so if you can't rework it I would just add a pony wall to hide it. That is an assumption based on you won't be buying a $2400 toilet to be used as an art piece. The new beams is just be cognizant of the sizes, as you don't want to go deeper than an 11 7/8" or probably would not want to widen the Dining wall if you need a (2+) plies. As far as "at least," I'm not a big fan of enclosing the view and constricting the arrival point of the entry caused by the shifted Powder Room. Nor of the W/D being viewed directly across the house (pocket doors are usually left open most of the time because they are a hassle). Also, I'm not sure how big a Dining table you need, but you have 12'x9', and have created a circulation of 3' between the table (closer to 5'-6' actual clear) to get out the new swing door. Having that separate swing door and it's circulation reduces your Kitchen counter/cab space (as opposed to using a slider, which matches the Living slider, behind the table within the 12' room length). And your island probably doesn't need a prep sink, as it is a small kitchen and the main sink is right there. None of these are make it or break it things, the layout you show will do if you're fine with it.

I would do the floor of the laundry room floor with the large scale gray linen. Come up the wall to about 4 feet with the finger tile and then cap it with the linen bullnose. Otherwise the top of the wainscotting could be a Schluter.

Also, I was thinking I could do the pantry floor in the linen and do an inlay 'rug' of the finger tile.

It would look like this. Does that look like a tile clearance mish-mash or is it stylish? It will be a gray linen wainscoting otherwise.

With the right wallpaper, it will look fine and might even look fabulous. Especially in a laundry room, it will be much more stylish than what most people have.

I think they look rather pretty together. I might like a row of the fingers as a rug-like border a couple tiles inset from the edges. Not sure how to manage the corners. Play with a layout?

I like them together but I don't like your layout. Keep playing. Can the kitkats be used on the floor at all? Can you do skinny blue stripes between the gray tiles on the floor? OOps is the floor done already?

Is there a less blue-toned version of the smaller tile? On my monitor, the tile undertones don't play nice together but I think a charcoal version might work.

I don't mind the two tiles together - however, the small tiles on the wall look REALLY busy! If you do go for it, I would not put the bullnose on the top.
