Yes, the soap dish problem is a biggee. Even if I found the exact replacement, I fear that removing the existing would be impossible without damaging the surrounding tiles. I do have extra tiles, but I have this vision of escalating destruction. I'll call some re-chroming places, but I doubt the process can be done in situ. I did read about the process, and I'm really impressed. If I could remove them and carry them in, it might be possible, but again, removing them a big problem. I wonder if there is a tiny concrete saw that does minimal damage? So, it gets to maybe the best solution is to sand down as much as possible all the corrosion and pitting and find an epoxy paint that will not only look acceptable and hold up to the dampness of the shower.

Tile has different undertones so I wouldn't make a big purchase until you brought a test tile home to see how the color works with your existing floor, lighting, cabinets and backsplash. The grain in your current floor and your backsplash are pretty busy so I would pick a plain, larger square tile. I would bring the tile all the way out to the edge of the outside cabinet so your kitchen won't get chopped out by the flooring. What is your price range? Edited to add - have you considered laminate tile? Then there won't be as many worries about flooring height changes.

Before you buy the 60" TV, check to see how close it can be to the firebox. Looks like you have a gas fireplace which can really pump out the heat, if it's like mine. Is the cabinet to the left built-in, or free-standing? How wide is the frame above the mantel now, from end to end outside measurement? Is it 60+ inches?

@jck910 is spot on. Your cabinets are natural maple, and not at all dark. Your problem is insufficient lighting. Get rid of the small boob light, and install some recessed lighting that will illuminate the cabinets, and also put in under cabinet LED strips. Painting cabinets is not a job for a contractor. It takes a professional cabinet painter, who will sand, prime, and use the proper finishing products to make the paint durable. Otherwise, your going to have a chipping mess, and money down the drain. Besides, painting those cabinets will only accentuate the outdated style of the doors. Take care of the lighting, and get the clutter off the counters. Otherwise, save your money until you can do a complete renovation.
