Got it. If I've got your situation correct: I've seen walls that are mostly glass, interrupted by a (usually centered on the wall) fireplace. Very nice; FP is a focal point and in summer, the garden is. Or, 2 sides are open to other rooms. Got enough circulation space to do a smallish 2-sided FP opening to both rooms? Choice #3: If goes somewhere on the wall with the TV. Not over it because DH's fish goes there. Maybe in one corner. Otherwise, it's hard to have FP and TV both on the wall since they're both focal points. Unless you work out an entire wall of built-in cabinets, hide the TV behind closed doors and place the FP so it looks balanced amongst the built-ins. Usually I see FP centered, with TV off to one side, behind the doors. I'm more worried about how you're gonna avoid glare on the TV screen with all that glass and openness. TV seems to be the bigger functional problem. In the south most people want a FP in their great room, just for looks and the occasional power outtage. For a power outtage, it's impractical in your design because it's way too open. In a smaller, closed-in room the FP will give you true warmth (take your clothes in there to dress, eat in there, even cook some over it till the power comes back on.) I think you have to choose over the visual impact/resale value of the beautiful FP in the great room and your desire to recreate the space you have now(and, have a more functional FP location for no-power times). If the latter is more important, and the FP can be constructed in the bonus room, why not put it there?

Facing the fireplace, put it on a TV mount on the wall to the right of the fireplace. then you can pull the TV out and angle it toward the seating area when you want to watch TV, and push it back flat against the wall when you don't. With your seating arrangement, no matter where anyone is sitting, they'll be able to see the TV if it is on that wall on a TV mount. Seating arrangement as you have it is perfect, IMO. TVs over fireplaces - too high, and TVs as "art" doesn't fly, IMO. Is the 14'8" the measurement from the window wall tom the kitchen wall? And do you need to maintain a "hall" that runs down that kitchen wall to the master bedroom? If so, it seems like the wall where the TV is now is the logical place for it to stay. The room would lend itself to a sectional, if such a solution would work for you. It would create a natural path around itself and keep the TV area more intimate -- no need to walk between the TV and the seating when crossing through the room. I had a LR that was 12' wide (with an 18" fireplace hearth sticking into the middle of it) and 20' long. The TV was on one of the short walls. It was hard to find a seating arrangement that didn't look something like a mini van, especially if I was bent on having a full size sofa and my hubby was bent on sitting in His Chair and not on the sofa with me. It was either have a chair slightly in front of the sofa, or have either the sofa or the chair(s) not really facing the TV. You could do a sofa perpendicular to the front wall (walk in the front door and the back of the sofa is on your left) and then two swivel club chairs facing the front wall (backs to the kitchen). That way it would look "nice" when empty, but the chairs could swivel for TV viewing.

The TV can be placed on the opposite wall next to the door. This layout works if you don't mind that the TV viewing will be interrupted when people walk into the room.
