Rodgersia info?
Comments (13)I love rodgersia! The one I prefer is Rodgersia aesculifolia. I find it easy to grow, even in conditions it's not suposed to like. I have them in the woodland/shade areas but also in a VERY narrow bed between the front porch and the driveway, where they get occasional water and live with Enerald Gaiety euonymus and a clematis on the sunny end. Flora's suggestion of astilboides is a good one - another of my favorite plants. That one does seem to need lots of moisture. The ones that do best for me are located where a downspout surfaces on our side of the north fence and where the neighbours downspout on the other side of the fence drains toward our property. Comments (14)Oh, I ain't going anywhere. Every house I've looked at has had the most GAWDAWFUL bathrooms, so there's surely at least one more bathroom remodel in my future! LOL There are lots of cabinetmakers up here who are willing to do inset doors. Crown Point, Black Cove, Kennebec, Thomas Moser are all within two hours' drive of me, and there are lots of less-famous types. Maybe it's a New England thing. Unfortunately, they will charge you an arm and a leg and your firstborn child. I would do any number of evil things for a kitchen like the one I linked to above, but that's only, oh, easily $75,000 worth of cabinetry! (Frankly, I can't even imagine being able to scrounge up more than about a third of that to pay for an entire kitchen renovation, unless I won the lottery jackpot. My budget is more like Ikea, and they were mean and dropped their inset style. Feh.) Someone was kind enough last year to give me some pictures showing a way to fake inset cabinets using trim pieces and decorative end panels on frameless cabinets - . Look very carefully at the closest cabinet....See MoreOT?? Help w/bookshelves visible from kitchen
Comments (4)Definitely 15" and 30"! You could always build 45" cabs youself - they'd need face frames along the sides and solid wood rails across the front of each shelf for added strength, though. The bookshelves flanking my fireplace are 48" each, but they are original to the house and new wood is not as strong as old wood, that's why you cannot buy bookshelves over 36" today....See MoreI've always wanted a chesterfield ...
Comments (25)The low backs are actually one of the features we like best. Since the room they'll be in is open to the kitchen and dining, we wanted low backed pieces so as not to close off communication between folks in the different areas. We'll use this space primarily for visiting with guests. Our main telly and reading rooms will be upstairs, and I'm currently eyeballing furniture for those rooms as well....See MoreRelated Professionals
