Unlikely... and probably not fertile unless someone set out to fertilize them in the first place (need both sexes of plants for fertile seeds to even develop). Cycads will often develop smaller seeds if not fertilized, but these will never sprout no matter how fresh. 4 years is a long time for any cycad seeds to stay fertile, though.

Hi... The formation of roots on Cycas Revoluta pups can be very sporadic. 12 months ago I removed 15 pups from my mature plant and 3 of them developed roots in 3/4 months. Most of the rest have been rooting at differing length of times and 2 still have not yet got any roots. You will know when roots have formed as the grow quickly and you will see them appearing at the holes in the bottom of the pot. Water them only occasionaly as the pups will quickly rot if kept too moist. After removing the pups from the parent plant it is wise to dust the wound with a fungicide and leave for 2/3 weeks before planting into pots. Hope this helps! Regards Allan

The best way to separate them is to cut off the fronds and try and save as many roots as possible. Let them dry out for a day (don't put it in too much sun though as it is drying out) so the cuts can heal and after that, plant it in good soil. This time of the year it will start to end it's growth for the season and I definitely don't recommend separating them with winter so close so if you can wait out until spring, that would be good. It looks like you won't be able to separate the pups without getting rid of a lot of the roots. It will recover fine with the roots cut off if the fronds cut off, but it will need some nice weather to get it going again. Good luck! -Alex
