What you should do, is change out the backspalsh. Right now, you have two splashes, one on top of the other. That 4” piece of countertop, is a backsplash. And, while both the granite counter, and marble splash are pretty on their own, they just don’t go together. The backsplash is too busy for the counter.

As for painting the cabs…a soft green would look lovely with the granite, and floors.

Agree with above comments. One thing you might consider is removing the scalloped piece above the sink.

this can be quite simple as the cabinets look to be a nice quality finish on maple and work well w the floor. the counter is fine...you can pull the ?green for floor mats/runner as someone said above...introduce a bit of color. I would spend to remove the 4 inch strip and the backsplash and place a white subway tile backsplash. Lightening up the wall closer to a neutral off white can help..maybe before the fridge is installed. You have floorspace for a small white cart which can be handy and look good in a white shade also. As said...this will be easy to adjust a few things to make you happy I think. Here are carts ...center of floorspace?? or maybe against the half wall on the left....a little fun style/ some extra landing and storage. Or maybe a really shallow table there w stool for actual sitting w laptops/coffee etc. Very nice kitchen anyway. If you measure distance from edge of counter over to half wall that could be something to think about [ if generous enough] to actually install something...these shown are mobile/ not permanent.

Yes, absolutely paint the cabinets. Do you love your countertops and backsplash? I think you should replace one or the other, if you have the budget. First pick the countertops and/ or backsplash, then paint.

Sorry but I have no idea what you shoulfd do but for sure you need much better lighting before deciding anything. I agree tak the added backsplash off and just keep the 4" piece of the counter material. Obviously not a modern kitchen with that scalloped thing over the sink. Maybe share what your style is right after you get the lighting fixed . The cheapest way add a 5 head LED track light taht is articualted so you can aim light where you need it and IMO all the bulbs 4000K. We have zero idea of your style and honestly the cabinets could be a lot better designed so I would not waste money on having those painted. Is this a new to you home ? If so do not do anything until you have used that kitchen for at least 3-6 months then you will know if you love it enoght to spend the money on painting

Can you please tell us what your goals are for asking about painting your cabinets? Does the color not go with the rest of your home anymore? Are you trying to cover damage to the surface? Are you trying to add color to this neutral palette? Are you trying to "update" this kitchen? For you or resale? I don't feel comfortable offering advice and responding to "should" you paint them without knowing why you are motivated to. For all I know some mean busy body made a snide remark about them and now you're feeling insecure. I'm not going to add to that. ☺️

I would not paint your cabinets, they are lovely, and well matched to your floor. If you want color, add a colorful: floor mat, towels, and curtain.

I suggest you keep the cabinets as is since they seem to be in very good condition. I would install new black modern hardware in a style to make the pulls look longer.

I would remove the backsplash (including the 4 inch one) and replace with white glossy subway tiles (you have different pattern options).

Remove the wood valance and install a white linen roman shade and a white cone pendant.

I don't see the entire room so simply making a suggestion that coordinates with the above.

If you have no idea what you want don't paint the cabinets just to paint them, they look fine.

IMHO its the counters and backsplash that are at odds with each other . One seems more pinky beige-gray, the other more green-gray. I think you need to embrace a color scheme based on either one or the other, and whichever you choose - change the other one to fit The green in the counter is emphasizing the slight pinkishness of the maple (birch?) but thats ok - I think if you were change colors of backsplash and walls to repeat or be more harmonious with the green-gray of the counters (could we see close up?) that would help the room feel more pulled together and visually cohesive. Maple does loose its pinkishness over time, turning more of an aged medium brown, but that might take a while. I too think both floor + cabs look beautiful together! Its the other elements that are a bit out of sync.
