I don't know your situation but why turn the dining room into a playroom when the sunroom is adjacent?

We live in New Jersey- its only usable like 3 months out of the year lol

The paper would also work in a dining room, so I don't think you'd have to redo the room to convert it back.

Wallpaper is very William Morris in style. I don't see that in a children's space. A stripe would work well and you wouldn't have to strip it later on.

Consider getting a ductless spilt to heat/cool the sunroom. Better investment for down the road.

I don't think a room has to have juvenile wallpaper in it just because a child will be using it. They won't be young all that long and really, as interested I am in design now, I never paid attention to what the interior design was when I was a kid.

Those papers don’t look appropriate for a playroom🤷🏼‍♀️..and feel a little overwhelming for more than an accent wall..if i had to choose …the lighter color seems better for your described situation and climate…

IMO none of them are really what I would want for a playroom. For now why not just some fun decals that can be removed when the space goes back to a DR Just a nice wall color with the decals.

I prefer the lighter colour and love it for a playroom. It's a forest - children can relate to it.

If the OP is using her dining room as a playroom, it is likely temporary, and kiddy wallpaper here would be a waste of money and energy. I was a kid, have kids, and worked with kids- kids are unlikely to care as much about the wallpaper as the homeowner does, and will outgrow of the need of a playroom very quickly.

I happen to love William Morris-style Arts & Crafts wallpaper patterns. These feel a little dark though. Have you thought about the Morris Strawberry Thief pattern? I find it a bit more cheerful, but still sophisticated enough that if you wanted to convert the room back to a dining room, it would work.

Lots of neat interesting wall decor!…and lighting…but it will get lost if you hang that paper?… the room seems sort of dark? ….painting the whole room a bright white and working on using those interesting pieces in a more decorative way would be my choice…then install a pretty …colorful rug…down at kiddie level…if you don’t need that big of a table …something smaller would allow more playroom…until you don’t need the play area as much…

Lowering the light fixture would add more table lighting ….and bring it into view better ….as a pretty part of the decor

If it fits…putting the “bar” under the mirror would free up that wall space for some baskets to toss the toys and tidy up the kid stuff…when they are done playing

btydrvn its definitely a bit dark - thats a total valid concern i have too. we are actually going to ditch the table and chairs for now ☺️so that will free up some room. and yes that spot is perfect for a basket💙

Yes, I consider green a neutral, especially when it’s foliage inspired like this paper.

There is a lot of great light coming into your dining room from the sunroom and I think the lighter green wallpaper will look luminous in a way that will look pretty stunning. Plus, I think it will look great with your floors. Out of context I like the darker one, but for your space I think the lighter wallpaper will look more special.

What in the room do you need to paint other than trim and what do you mean by being liberal with the paint colors?

ffpalms i could kiss you! i searched high and low on social media for a picture with actual colors set against that wallpaper. i even tried downloading a few apps but was not successful.

Kendrah- you are speaking the voice of reason i havent been able to silence in my brain! i find myself with that dilemma quite a bit. i find something beautiful out of context but its not appropriate for my space.

i dont NEED to paint anything per se. i just figured i ought to paint the other 3 walls so the single accent wall doesn’t look so stark set against them.

by liberal with colors i moreso meant liberal with other decor: a fun rug, some kind of big comfy chair, a tent of sorts, etc etc.
