We are in the process of remaking our kitchen. The perimeter will be translucent limestone in maple with quartz countertop in eternal charcoal soapstone. The island will be maple in husk with a white quartz top. Can I see pics of similar kitchens for flooring advice?

Maker all the counters the same or all the cabinets the same. 2 different countertops and 2 different cabinet finishes is too chaotic. What is the floor in the rest of the home? Ideally all flooring should match.

I am not crazy about tile. It's hard on the feet and legs. I also don't like cleaning the grout although you can make the grout line very small and dark so that would make it easier to clean. I do love wood. I just think it feels nice underfoot, and I think it gives a warmer overall look. Wood is pretty easy to keep clean. I just use a damp dry mop on mine. My dogs are big and have scratched my wood floors, but it doesn't bother me. One day I will have them resanded and stained.

What color/type of kitchen floor will match my hardwood floor?

What's your counter top? As much as I love the look of blue slate up against a wood floor, it would look weird if it is the ONLY punch of blue/gray in the entire kitchen. If in doubt, look to your counter tops to help pick your floor. It is a very simple (yet elegant) form of DIY Design which helps homeowners complete the look without having all the stress of picking 'another colour' for the floors.

The wood tones look good with crisp white (more on the blue side). Gold/orange likes to sit next to white, either crisp or cream (yellow based). But it does NOT like to sit next to gray. It takes a VERY special designer (ahem...the one that none of us can afford) to get golden wood to work with muddy grays. I would go WHITER with the floors than what you are showing. Your cabinet choice is showing BLUE-gray. That's fine. One of the PRETTIEST floors you can put next to 'wood tones' = blue slate! I kid you not. As you've noticed you can go DARK blue or you can go WHITE-blue. Notice the 'blue' in both? Yep. Cause blue helps 'set up' the gold tones and the gold tones help set up the blue tones. They make each other pop. I would stay away from the gray and stick with white or super dark blue.

If possible I would run the same wood right into your kitchen. But, if you really want tile or some other surface maybe something in gray tile like one of these.... I am looking at what would go with your current floors but also work with your new kitchen colors of gray and white.

How large is your kitchen? Unless it is massive, stick to one cabinet color and one counter. What you have selected will be very busy together.

Do you know how to use all of the filters to search for kitchen picks in houzz so you can find examples of the counters and cabinets you are using?

Thank you for your opinions I’m actually excited about my choices and was just seeking advice on flooring and was sharing cabinets and countertop details for reference. It’s a very large kitchen.

Continuous flooring throughout the home is usually the ideal - so whatever you have in the rest of your home - continue it in the kitchen, then select cabs/counters to complement the floor

Yes start with your floor first then build from there. Ideally it flows with adjacent spaces so it’s super important to start there.

IMO the flooring is the first choice since it IMO needs to go everywhere. BTW when you ask a question here there are many pros with a lot of experince that you might want to listen to.

You can not see ”similar ” inspiration kitchens because most do not make the big mistake of creating a patchwork quilt of contrasting colors everywhere. That is NOT a good look. You need to pare down and unify. Start with 1 flooring choice for the whole space. Then pick one counter or one cabinet choice.

I had my kitchen renovated s few years ago. I chose Silestone quartz counters in color: charcoal soapstone. I chose gray cabinetry, and have medium colored oak flooring.

The island cabinet choice does not play well with the quartz soapstone. Please consider one cabinet color for your space. Regarding flooring, yes, the should match floors through the house but often, that is not an option. If possible, find something close to that husk cabinet finish for your floor and boom! you've got basically the same look.
