kitchen flooring

We are in the process of remaking our kitchen. The perimeter will be translucent limestone in maple with quartz countertop in eternal charcoal soapstone. The island will be maple in husk with a white quartz top. Can I see pics of similar kitchens for flooring advice?

Maker all the counters the same or all the cabinets the same. 2 different countertops and 2 different cabinet finishes is too chaotic. What is the floor in the rest of the home? Ideally all flooring should match.

I am not a huge fan of vinyl plank flooring. It feels very fad'y. Ten years from now, it'll be the one thing that lets you date when you did the remodel. Having said that, they do have pretty decent designs these days. They come really close to fooling you into thinking it's the real thing. And while some of the hype seems to be just that, they reportedly do stand up to abuse much better than older man-made materials. The nice thing about real hardwood though is that you can relatively easily refinish it. Or you can pick a material that looks great even when it is distressed. Neither one is really an option with vinyl planks. On the whole, I do agree with you though. The much better flooring material in the kitchen is tile. No need to stress if you spill something. And if you install radiant floor heating, it feels really nice on your feet, too. And if you carry if through the rest of the house, you can use area rugs in select locations. But that's going to be more expensive than putting down LVP. So, it's a bit of "you get what you pay for". On the other hand, if you plan on living in the house for the long run, it might make sense to do things right once, rather than replacing the cheaper flooring every couple of years.

What's your counter top? As much as I love the look of blue slate up against a wood floor, it would look weird if it is the ONLY punch of blue/gray in the entire kitchen. If in doubt, look to your counter tops to help pick your floor. It is a very simple (yet elegant) form of DIY Design which helps homeowners complete the look without having all the stress of picking 'another colour' for the floors.

I think either wood that is the same , my first choice, or a tile look vinyl I really dislike tile floor in a space where you spend a lot of time in. Tile is hard on knees, feet backs and honestly are not water proof in a flood the wood underneath still gets wet and needs replacing.

You haven't answered if you're replacing or painting your cabinets. that island,,,are those giant posts staying? are you keeping the tuscan look? and that granite is staying? the curved edging will remain? All you're redoing is the flooring, correct? if that's the case, I'd go w/a simple porcelain tile that looks like a limestone. go to a good tile place, show them these pictures, say you want a larger porcelain tile that resembles a neutral cream or soft gray limestone. see if you like this large hex tile in a taupe https://www.tilebar.com/sample-pergola-taupe-12-5-hexagon-matte-porcelain-tile.html you could use a real black slate tile (many sizes) or look for a porcelain that looks like black slate. look at Tilebar

How large is your kitchen? Unless it is massive, stick to one cabinet color and one counter. What you have selected will be very busy together.

Do you know how to use all of the filters to search for kitchen picks in houzz so you can find examples of the counters and cabinets you are using?

Thank you for your opinions I’m actually excited about my choices and was just seeking advice on flooring and was sharing cabinets and countertop details for reference. It’s a very large kitchen.

Continuous flooring throughout the home is usually the ideal - so whatever you have in the rest of your home - continue it in the kitchen, then select cabs/counters to complement the floor

Yes start with your floor first then build from there. Ideally it flows with adjacent spaces so it’s super important to start there.

IMO the flooring is the first choice since it IMO needs to go everywhere. BTW when you ask a question here there are many pros with a lot of experince that you might want to listen to.

I had my kitchen renovated s few years ago. I chose Silestone quartz counters in color: charcoal soapstone. I chose gray cabinetry, and have medium colored oak flooring.

The island cabinet choice does not play well with the quartz soapstone. Please consider one cabinet color for your space. Regarding flooring, yes, the should match floors through the house but often, that is not an option. If possible, find something close to that husk cabinet finish for your floor and boom! you've got basically the same look.
